This one is over a month late but I have reasons! 1. I kept forgetting 2. I had some personal stuff going on and I had personal reasons to not want to watch this movie for a while after watching the first one. But this movie and Ariel's Beginning are way overdue at the library so it's now or never and get even more fines.

Today's rewatch: The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea
Last time watched: 2015

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
Since I loved The Little Mermaid when I was little, of course I was really excited to watch Return to the Sea and when I finally did watch it I might not have loved it as much as the first one, but that didn't stop me from watching this movie over and over and over again. The last time I watched this movie I was working 2 jobs and when I had a 3 hour break between shifts I was channel surfing when I saw Disney Channel playing this movie for the first time in I didn't know how long (seriously, when was the last time Disney Channel showed a straight to dvd sequel?). The second I saw this movie was on I sat back, relaxed, and took a nice trip down memory lane before I had to spend another night in stress.

Why I love this movie so much:
For one thing, JODI FRIGGING BENSON RETURNED AS ARIEL. Jodi Benson is one of my favorite singers and actresses and I love watching any movie that she sings in even if it's a bad movie.

Also, how did I go this long not knowing Pat Carroll voiced Morgana? Especially with that laugh!

I love that this movie toned down Triton's temper, the only time we see him get angry like he did in the first movie is when Morgana is involved and when he's upset about Melody missing (though that time was understandable it was a little much)

One of things I love about this movie is that the characters aren't out of character (except maybe Ariel a little bit, even if Melody couldn't know about merpeople she could have at least told Melody why the ocean wasn't safe but if that's not an option then it's understandable) which is almost rare to see in straight to dvd sequels (so far I've only seen it in the Aladdin sequels, BatB Enchanted Christmas, and kinda Cinderella 2)

Something I almost forgot about this movie (despite it being pretty obvious) is how similar this movie is to the first movie. Not just the parts about a princess sneaking off to somewhere forbidden and asking a sea witch for help, there's Melody forgetting about the party like Ariel forgot about the concert, Melody splashing out of the water like Ariel did after she got legs, Melody collecting treasures like Ariel did, and so on.

I'm glad we got to see more of Ariel and Eric together, in some of the sequels we've gotten we never get to see too much of the original couple interacting the same way Ariel and Eric do in this movie. In other sequels we see them talking about their children and most of the time it's only one or two scenes together and that's it. In this movie we see Ariel and Eric talk-singing in the opening, they talk about their daughter but they're longer scenes and there's more than one, and there's that sweet little "bad hair day" part before the birthday party.

Melody still isn’t my favorite sequel princess but I still like her. Sometimes I think people forget she’s only 12 years old and people that age can make mistakes especially after being lied to by a parent and being manipulated by a “sweet” old lady. I know I did some really stupid and dangerous stuff as a kid so I know how it is. I still love her design and I’m glad the animators didn’t make her look 100% like Ariel like Disney normally does with Disney children. I remember being so disappointed that she wasn’t going to be in the third movie because I wanted to see more of her relationship with her parents.

Watching this now I find it so weird that when Melody heard Mama Penguin yelling for help we didn't see her come to try help or any reaction at all. Like Ariel with the stuffed crab in the first movie, this might just be bad writing.

While Tip and Dash are obvious knockoffs of Timon and Pumbaa I had a hard time hating them. I didn't love them because they were more annoying knockoffs of Timon and Pumbaa, but I didn't hate them. I thought they had some moments that made them likable and honestly, I liked their song. It was catchy!

While the climax wasn't as intense as the first one we at least got to see Morgana use the trident more compared to Ursula who was only able to use it for a brief while.

What I loved the most about the ending is unlike the first movie, this movie actually addressed that you didn't have to choose to be only on land or in the sea, you can be a part of both. I still loved the ending to the first movie more than the ending to this movie but I'm still happy this movie showed the humans and mermaids together.

Movie:
As much as I love this movie, it's not the original. The characters look Saturday Morning Cartoonsy, Morgana wasn't as impressive as Ursula ("Morgana, why can't you be more like your sister Ursula?"), the background animation was even more disappointing, especially the ocean scenes which is a huge bummer because that's what I loved so much about the first movie. I had more fun watching the first movie but this movie was still more fun to watch than some of the other sequels I watched recently.

Rating: 6/10

How much has my opinion changed?
It's changed a little bit compared to how I felt about this movie when I was younger.

Would I watch it again?
Yes!

Next movie will be The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning
Christine and Erik, we meet again.

Hi guys, here are my choices of what Halloween Movies that the princesses might want to watch, are you ready?

The Phantom of the Opera

Okay, I have 2 versions of Gaston Leroux's classic, the first one is the 1925 silent version. This black and white movie will bring out the horror of the movie, especially it's music which is Schubert's Unfinished Symphony.
The second one will be the 2004 version based on the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, I absolutely love the songs and I think it is another possible choice for a Halloween movie.

Stephen King's Carrie

This 1976 movie is the one that got...

Blanche Neige et les Sept Nains or Snow White's Scary Adventures.

The Paris version of this classic Disney 'dark ride' is the version I have most recently ridden. However, I will take a look back at the Disney World version, as well as using some online sources to compare and contrast the Disneyland California and Tokyo Disney versions.

The 'English' title for this ride is incredibly apt. Scary is what it is. After the usual twisty-turny queue line (no fastpass for this one) you are placed into minecarts decorated with squirrels and the like. The ride first leads you through the dwarves' cottage...

This is my opinion only. But I believe the reasons that Evil Queen from Snow White and Lady Treamine from Cinderella mistreat the titular characters is different from the in-story explanation.

Evil Queen used the fact Snow was pretty as an excuse to get rid of an heir to the throne which I presumable that the Queen was ruling for Snow.

Lady Treamine's daughters might be older by a few months in the animated Disney movie. And back in those days older daughters were suppose to marry before younger ones.

I don't really have a reason for Edward's step-mother, Narcissa. But I assume that the Kingdom is suppose to be run mostly by a Queen?
So cute!
So cute!
Princess Anna lives her life alone with her thoughts, her hopes and her dreams. She's gives protection from the worlds hardships in her isolation. She sees the world the world through an idealized lens of Rose colored glasses.Beautiful paintings, statues become the normative vistas that converge to create her own ego-centric reality.Smiling faces are all she sees,so the outside world, one of untold mysteries, must be a place of beauty of place and wonder! She walks out amongst the people for the first time with no solid understanding of human interaction, and more importantly,of the malign intent...

That evening, Mulan, Pocahontas, and Merida decided to go for a walk around the land. They hadn't really had a chance to talk to each other because of everything that went on. "I'm glad you all were able to come down here." Pocahontas confessed. "I couldn't say no to such scenery!" Mulan replied. "I, on the other hand, wanted to see YOU." Merida joked. The 3-some laughed. They sat down on some wooden tree stumps.

"I'm really glad I met you two. Rapunzel and her rumored cousins were NO match for me." Merida said. Pocahontas and Mulan smiled. "I'm thankful I had both of you by my side when Rolfe...

For the sake of my attention span, I'll be doing this list backwards. Enjoy.

1: Cinderella

Cinderella's my absolute FAVORITE. No matter what, she'll never be taken down from this place on my list. Ever since I was about four, I watched her movie every single Saturday, right at eight o' clock. Since my grandma always babysat me because my parents would go out, she'd sing along to it with me and I'd recite EVERYONE'S lines, and I always compared the evil step-sisters to mean girls at my pre-school (or whatever thing I attended back then). Cinderella taught me a lot of kindness and respect, and...

"Mulan, what is this all about?" Shang asked as the gang entered the hallway. "Indeed, because you're starting to worry me." John replied. "I have an idea. Why don't we throw Merida a Get Well Soon feast after she gets out of here?" Mulan answered. The guys thought for a minute. Pocahontas, on the other hand, was skeptical. "I don't know. Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea, but she may be required to continue resting." she said. "Well, yeah, but we could still pull it off." Mulan replied. "I guess that makes sense." Pocahontas stated.

"Mulan, I love the idea of throwing Merida this feast,...

John felt like he got himself in the middle of a fiasco. He didn't know what to do or think. He tried to let everyone be for as long as he could. He also tried to get the whole thing off his mind by spending time with Mace. And it worked. Mace was John's stress-release when it came to things like that. "I don't know what I'd do without you." John yawned as he rocked him. It wasn't long before he fell fast asleep with the tot.

Afew hours later, John awoke without Mace in his arms. "Where's Mace?" he asked trying not to panic. He looked around, only to see the tot in his cradle sleeping. "Pocahontas...

After lunch, Mulan had a tingly feeling inside her as she summoned up the courage to Shang the news. She took a deep breath. "Shang, can I talk to you for a sec?" she asked. They went into their guest bedroom. "What is it, Mulan?" Shang asked. "How do I tell you?" Mulan asked. "Tell me what? You know you can tell me anything." Shang said. "I'm pregnant again." Mulan confessed.

Shang had the biggest smile Mulan had ever seen in her life. "Mulan, that's great!" Shang replied as he picked her up and twirled her around. "I don't know Shang. What if I don't love this one as much as Ping?" Mulan speculated....

Merida searched and searched. Knowing Shang and John were cold and hungry worried her. *What if they're dead?* was a question that went through her mind. That worried her the most. Nearing the sight Shang and John once were, the young princess silently gasped in pain as she felt a painfully tingling sensation go through her leg. She had no time to worry about a simple wound now. She had to find her friends and FAST.

Suddenly, there was a flame in the air. A real visible flame. Merida rushed over to it, only to find Shang and John alive and safe. "MERIDA!" they both screamed. They hurried over...

In order to forget about everything, Merida decided to play with the babies. They sure didn't mind her company because they LOVED her! She tickled Mace's feet and he laughed. She chased Ping around the room and he laughed. It wasn't long before she was by Mace to play with his toys. Although, Ping tried to bring alittle competition by bringing over HIS toys. "Let's not fight now. I'll play with both of yer toys!" Merida handled calmly yet sweetly. Pocahontas smiled as she looked inside Mace's room.

She walked into the kitchenette where she saw Mulan sadly puzzled. "Is everything alright?" she...

"I hope those letters get there on time." Pocahontas said as she was gathering food. "You're getting too anxious. Those things take their time getting delivered." Nakoma replied. Pocahontas had a look of doubt on her face. "Nakoma, I have to ask you something. Do you feel I should make you Mace's godmother?" Pocahontas confessed. Nakoma's jaw dropped slightly. "Pocahontas, that's all up to you. If you want to make Merida Mace's godmother, I understand." Nakoma answered. "Are you sure? I mean, we've known each other all of lives and, I've only known Merida for afew years." Pocahontas wondered....

I found a lot of these facts from this buzzfeed article: link

1. The current official lineup of Disney Princesses includes Jasmine, Ariel, Rapunzel, Tiana, Belle, Merida, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Aurora, Mulan, and Snow White.

2. Snow White is supposed to be 14 years old. She remains the youngest Disney Princess.

3. Belle is the only Disney Princess to have hazel eyes.

4. Mulan’s story is based on an ancient Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, a female warrior famously described in the poem “The Ballad of Mulan.”

5. Mulan is also the first Disney Princess to not actually be a princess. All the others...
