Oh, thank you! I'm glad you're interviewing me too, you're a really cool member! I'm gonna have to do this in parts...

1. Congratulations! How does it feel to be Fan of the Month?

Thank you! It feels awesome! It was really exciting because it meant my contributions were well accepted and people thought they were good.

2. Your favorite Princess and why?

As always, Mulan. I just absolutely love her. She's smart and brave and selfless. I love her character and her transformation. I love how she goes from the awkward, clumsy girl in the beginning to the confident woman in the end. My favorite thing about that is that all of her traits and personality in the beginning is still there in the end, she has just learned to accept them. I love her darker sides of bitterness, disorganization, martyrdom, and more subtle downfalls of her character. My favorite thing is her struggle in character and how she has to discover who she is- and in the end, she fails just as much pretending to be a perfect man. She has to be completely herself to succeed. I love that she struggles to find herself, because it's so realistic. You shouldn't have asked me why, I always give essays when asked why I love Mulan.

3. Your least favorite Princess and why?

I'm not sure, my list is changing right now. I've got it down to one of three though- Jasmine, Merida, or Cinderella. Jasmine because she's a hypocrite who lets Aladdin treat her like "a prize to be won." Merida is going to be really difficult to place- she's a really interesting, compelling character, but I don't really LIKE her much, so it will be difficult for me to decide whether I place her based on her complexity or likability. Cinderella is just unlucky. Lately, I've begun to appreciate all of the princesses more- except Cinderella. Well, I do appreciate her more, just to a lesser extent. It's really because I can't get emotionally involved in her movie.

4. Your favorite Prince and why?

Shang. I love his selflessness, bravery, and development from arrogant new captain to strong leader. I also love his complex with his father.

5. Your least favorite Prince and why?

Charming. I think he’s a jerk for the same reasons everybody does, and he doesn’t even learn Cinderella’s name. He’s also just so stilted and has such a bland personality (from what we see.)


6. Your favorite DP villain and why?

Either Evil Queen or Shan Yu. Evil Queen because I just love her creepiness and find her really elegantly diabolical, I can’t really describe it. Shan Yu because of THE LITTLE GIRL.

7. Your least favorite DP villain and why?

I think Gaston, almost because I like him. He isn’t either fierce and intimidating (Shan Yu) or charismatic and elegant (Maleficent, Facilier.) I don’t really know, though.

8. Your favorite DP movie and why?

Mulan. I love the humor, the story, the characters, the music, the animation- I just really love this movie. It’s my all-time favorite. I especially love the way gender issues are addressed- there is a lot of good humor (you know when you get those manly urges,) but it also handled really well. Mulan doesn’t fit perfectly in either, and I really like that.

9. If you could chose one Disney heroine to be in the line-up, who would it be? Where would they rank on your pretty list and favorite list?

Objectively, Esmeralda or Jane would probably be the best. I’d pick Jane of the two. Since my list is changing, I don’t know where she’d rank, but probably in the top five. She’d be 3rd (above Mulan) or 4th (above Ariel) in prettiness. If I just picked who I wanted, it would be Kida. I love how she gives up herself for her people. I love her devotion to keeping her people’s culture alive. I just really love Kida. She and Pocahontas would be constantly fighting for 2 (I think Pocahontas would usually win.) She’d either be 4th (above Ariel again) or 5th (above Snow White) in prettiness.

10. Which Princess do you relate to most and why?

Belle. I also like reading and feel like an outcast, all the normal reasons. I also hate my community, I’m surrounded by superficial snobs. However, I also think I am like Belle in more significant ways. Like Belle, I have difficulty expressing my real feelings with people. I tend to talk around things (like when Belle called Gaston a bunch of names he wouldn’t understand.) I also would be like Belle in that I will defend myself even when I know I’m in the wrong. I also think I can be a bit of an intellectual snob, like Belle. Like Belle, I also feel that my learning separates me from people- I’m almost never invited to things with my friends. I also relate to Rapunzel because I feel like the way my mind works isolate me from others.

11. Who is your...

- Prettiest? Pocahontas!
- Funniest? Rapunzel, maybe?
- Smartest? Mulan. She takes down the greatest warlord with her fan.
- Nicest? Snow White
- Most underrated? Aurora
- Favorite singing voice? Pocahontas
- Least favorite singing voice? Ariel SHE SINGS THROUGH HER NOSE
- Most annoying? Merida or Jasmine (for claiming to be all independent-tough-girl and needing to get saved all the time)
- Least annoying? Pocahontas

12. Your favorite DP couple and why?

Tiana and Naveen. I just love them, and have no real good reason why! I love their chemistry, though.

13. Your least favorite DP couple and why?

Cinderella and Charming. I’ve convinced myself Cinderella was being and opportunist falling in love with Charming because I dislike the pair so much.

14. Your favorite DP song and why?

I Wonder or Just Around the Riverbend. I feel like they are very different songs that both convey similar messages of wanting discovery and to know more.

15. Your least favorite DP song and why?

When Will My Life Begin Reprise. Bad tune of the original with “like” thrown in as a verbal pause in one of the most tender moments of the movie. Frustrates me.

Ariel. I think I would really love her enthusiasm and we would both love exploring together. I also think we both have a lot of fascination.

22. Which DP do you think you would not get along with and why?

Merida, probably. I think I’d roll my eyes at her a lot. I don’t know, though.

23. Favorite crossover couple? (the princess with another Disney character or prince)

I’m not big into crossover.
24. Have you ever been to any of the Disney theme parks? Which one? If not, which one would you like to go to?

Disneyland. I want to go to Disneyworld to see New Fantasyland and meet a Mulan face character.

25. What are your hopes on...

- Fanpop? That this sight continues to be active and that we continue to address more thought-provoking topics
- Frozen? I just want it to be a good movie that doesn’t knock off Tangled. And that Elsa isn’t included in the lineup.
- Future Disney movies? Lately I’ve been coming up with some ideas for a story about Macchu Picchu (that’s probably not spelled right.) I think that could be really cool. But I just want them to step outside their comfort zone more and not restrict themselves in their stories the way they have done in the past.
