I'm writing this article because with all due respect to everyone's opinion I could never appreciate the double standards surrounding Ariel’s character with all the “she left her family behind because of a guy despite canon clearly stating she dreamt of being a part of a human world long before even knowing Eric exists” sort of statements. And I don’t really like comparing Disney girls and writing character A vs. character B kinds of posts, but I feel like sometimes it is the only way to make a point.

So I’m taking two Disney princesses that I really love: Ariel and Pocahontas.

Ariel gets a constant hate for not listening to her father, being dashing and a bit irresponsible. Because it is so “awful” that she tried to get to know a different world and culture and risked her own (not anyone elses, mind you) life for the sake of it like during the incedent with a shark in the beginning of the movie, all of it despite her father’s unfair and wrong prejudices that he tried to force on her and all of his daughters without even putting any effort into getting to know the world he hated so much, generalizing all the human beings in it and expecting all of his daughters to hate said world as well (and then as they grow up to teach their own children to hate it, apparently) and stay away from it without even knowing a thing about it just because he said so. Yet Ariel did not want to be so narrow minded and judgemental so she wanted to find out the truth - on her own. Ariel did her best to hold her family away from trouble and even when she made a deal with Ursula she took all the responsibility on her own shoulders: she was willing to face the consequences and pay the price if she doesn’t make Eric kiss her within 3 days and she would have never made that deal had she known it could have been dangerous for her father or her family. She did not willingly subscribe to putting her family in danger, the only person she was putting in danger willingly was herself, everything else happened because of Ursula’s plan she had no idea about (and call her stupid or dumb all you want, but the fact remains - she. did. not. know. that. How exactly she should have known she is a part of some evil chain of events that are supposed to follow once she gives her voice to sea witch and gets her legs or how it is connected to Ursula wanting to posess the ocean, may I ask?). Ariel gets the blame for her “shallow” love at first sight and for risking and giving up everything for “some guy she only saw once”, although her real love for Eric came when she bonded with him over a significant experience of saving his life and the stronger feelings developed only when they got to know each other when she was already a human. In fact, Ariel was never going to leave it just being a crush at first sight, she wanted it to be something more, she was ready and willing to get to know Eric and meet him in a mermaid form (as she says to her friends), without running away from home, before her father decided to destroy her collection she worked on for her entire life, punishing her for dreaming and having feelings every teenager is allowed to have. Ariel’s love interest, Eric was a down to earth charming prince who was a good person in every sense of that word (heck, the first heroic act of his that Ariel - and us - got a chance to witness was him nearly dying for his dog). Eric took care of Ariel when she appeared in his life as a mute girl who needed help despite him not being in love with her just yet and still wanting to find the one, the girl with gorgeous voice. Eric is a part of the “opposite” world to the mermaid world, he has no idea about Ariel’s world or how it all works, he has no idea about the kind of deal she had with Ursula or who the hell is Triton, but the very moment he finds out that the love of his life is a mermaid (pretty sure it’s a rather shocking news to process in few moments, but he handles it pretty well) he rushes to help her and her family and fights by her side against Ursula despite having a very good chance at dying and in the end sets Ariel and her father free from the sea witch by destroying her. Eric nearly died twice because the sea had nearly taken his life and still he managed to find the beauty in Ariel’s world, accept her past as a mermaid no matter how crazy and freaky it might have been for a guy of his years to face so much in one day and be greatful to her father (a king who not more than a day before hated all the humans including him) for everything he did for them. Ariel and Eric end up together because they are willing to accept each other and each other’s worlds.

And then we have Pocahontas. The movie starts with her behaving pretty Ariel-like: when she needs to be where her father wants her to be, she prefers to spend her time somewhere else enjoying dangerous activities because she is just as free spirited as Ariel. Only Pocahontas doesn’t do it because she wants to explore some new world or culture and put an end to prejudices surrounding it - she jumps down the waterfall because it is so fun! She risks her life and ignores her responsibilities - for fun. And then at some point of the movie her love interest is introduced. Said love interest openly came to her and her father’s land with his people in order to posess it, willing to kill anyone who refuses to play by his rules or decides to rightfully defend their land. He is armed and dangerous because he knows - “savages” might be out there and for him a savage is any person who is not like him. His first meeting with his future “soulmate” takes place when he directly aimes a gun at her - because obviously she might be another savage who needs to either co-operate or die. Then he is smitten by her gorgeous looks and decides to be more nice to her than he would have been had she been some moody and not so pretty or welcoming male “savage”. Basically, just few hours after they just meet, Pocahontas starts contacting with a guy who nearly shot her and who - as she clearly knows - has come to her land in order to take it away from her people, from her family. But it is all ok as long as she sings him a song about the colors of the wind while he tries to shoot a bear (is it some weird fetish, Smith, aiming at everything that moves?) and then shows him the places he wanted to posess and own by forcing her people to agree to terms of his people or to die. She communicates and opens up about her land to a guy who wanted to take it away. Who wanted to make her family and her people play by his people’s rules. Who was willing to kill any of them if he finds it necessary. She believes she can change him but she has no garantees. Pocahontas willingly puts her family in danger by seeing Smith. Yet she is still sneaking around with him to have passionate kisses and secret dates. It ends with one of her people being shot to death by Smith’s best friend. Now, as contrived as Smith’s sudden change of mentality is I’m going to accept that. I’m accepting his changes because they are canon. Apparently, through the course of 1 or 2 days he suddenly decided that people who live on that land are not savages but actually nice folks who talk to spirits and trees. He doesn’t want their land anymore, how decent of him. He doesn’t want to posess it or to force those people do something they don’t want to do. Fine. Sorted. But does it undo everything that happened? Does it undo the fact that Pocahontas repeatedly put her family and her people in danger - which resulted in one of those people being killed - because of her crush on a cute blonde guy who started out as a narcissistic posessive jerk with a clear intention to make her and her people do what he wants? No. And in all honesty, if some guy came and brought some people that would cause any harm to my family or friends, even if he ended up being injured by trying to prevent some of those harmful acts from the side of one of HIS people (in Smith’s case he used to be Ratcliffe’s man and was fully aware of what sort of a person Ratcliffe was and how was he going to act if the “savages” refuse to give away their land), my farewell words to that guy wouldn’t be: “I’ll always be with you, forever”. No, instead I would tell him that if he ever comes to my land again with a crap like this or brings some people who do any harm to people I love again, I would take his gun and shove it up his stupid ass.

Now, what I wrote isn’t my intention to bring down Pocahontas, god knows I love the girl. But I’m trying to highlight the obvious double standards surrounding Ariel’s character and how each and every single mistake she makes is viewed as some horrible crime whereas when it comes to other princesses, their intentional stupid things are usually being overlooked and they are far from getting the same ammount of judgement.

I started doing Jasmine's test in my head and noticed she fit a lot of the traits (including ones I left out because I thought they applied to all princesses). So I decided to write it down.

Unique traits without contacts or hair dye- No, she has black hair and brown eyes.
An odd name- No. 'Jasmine' is probably the most common name out of the DPs (and Anna, but the pronunciation is unique).
Looks constantly commented on- Yes. By Aladdin and the suitors, and like Esmeralda, she uses it as a weapon. 1.
Always the hero- No. She's almost as much of a damsel in distress as the classic princesses.
Multiple...

The tenth Mary Sue test. This one is for Mulan, who's called a Mary Sue sometimes (mostly by people who are bitter about her popularity, but they kind of have a point, especially with how she's always portrayed as superior to all the other princesses).

Unique traits without contacts or hair dye- Nope, she has black hair and brown eyes, common Chinese features.
An odd name- No. Actually, I'm not sure, but I'll just assume 'Mulan' is a common Chinese name.
Looks constantly commented on- No, at least not about how beautiful she is.
Always the hero- Definitely. It's kind of a given considering her...

Welcome to the last of the classic Mary Sue tests. This one is going to be difficult, since Aurora has so little screentime and personality. But I'll try my best.

Unique traits without contacts or hair dye- Yes. It's hard to gauge Aurora's exact eye color, but she seems to have violet eyes, which is definitely unique (and not even natural). Since it's not a natural trait in real people, it's getting a full point. 1.
An odd name- No. 'Aurora' is probably the most normal name of the classic princesses, and not that out there. Even Briar Rose isn't that unusual.

This is another Mary Sue test. I decided to do Elsa after Anna. I think she's accused of being a Mary Sue more (though neither of them are accused much).

Unique traits without contacts or hair dye- Platinum blonde hair isn't super common, though it can be explained by her ice powers (but it isn't made clear that's the explanation like with Rapunzel). .5
An odd name- No. 'Elsa' isn't that odd of a name.
Looks constantly commented on- No. I can't remember Elsa's looks being commented on much.
Always the hero- No. I can't remember her saving anyone aside from herself.
Multiple characters falling...

You can find the lyrics of all the songs Elsa sings here..

For The First Time İn Forever Lyrics

Anna: The window is open, so's that door
I didn't know they did that anymore
Who knew we owned 8000 salad plates?

For years I've roamed these empty halls
Why have a ballroom with no balls?
Finally, they're opening up the gates

There'll be actual, real live people
It'll be totally strange
But wow am I so ready for this change!

'Cause for the first time in forever
There'll be music, there'll be light
For the first time in forever
I'll be dancing through the night

Don't know if I'm elated or gassy
But I'm somewhere...

Really thank you whatsupbugs. I really had no idea, but you came to my rescue! Your idea is really good. I'm going to rank all the characters in Frozen from worst to best. ___ By the way, if you like Elsa, you can reach the "Elsa Image Gallery" article I published an hour ago:

Anyway, I'm starting.

12- Hans
I really hate Hans. Hans thinks he's very smart. _ But he's a fool_ When I was little, when I was watching Frozen with my sister, we would always throw a pillow at Hans. Even though Anna loves him, Hans is cheating on him. And I really don't like people who go behind my back. Moreover,...

The original tales of Disney Princesses are TREASURES we know as fairy tales. The princesses are the same but their tales and personalities are different. Some of their tales don't get the happy ending that Disney did. But life doesn't always have a happy ending anyway. Let's take a look at the original fairy tales of these Disney princesses.

1- Ariel
Let's start with Ariel, the most famous princess in fanpop. In the Disney version, Ariel was finally getting the prince she wanted to be with. But in the original and Disney-inspired tale written by Hans Christian Andersen, the ending was bad. Ariel...

I actually wrote an article similar to this one for Elsa the snow queen club. But Elsa is forgotten here so I decided to write this article. (Normally I used to write an article every day, but yesterday I couldn't because I was suffering from cutting my foot with blackberry thorns.) This article explains why I love Elsa so much.

1- Relationship with Anna
Elsa's relationship with Anna is so sweet! Elsa reminds me of myself and Anna reminds me of my cheerful and impatient sister who wants me to be happy. I love Elsa's older sister's love for Anna.

2- Romance = zero
Hahaha! I know you're going to...

Snow White has never been pretty to me. Princesses like Elsa, Anna, Aurora and Belle have always been beautiful to me. Snow White was the ugliest to me, the ugliest. Even uglier than princesses like Merida, Mulan, and Kida. I don't understand how they call Snow White "the fairest of all people" in the movie.

Things that make Snow White ugly:

Snow White's neck looks combined with her head.

The shape of Snow White's hair is so ugly, it's like a cotton candy that doesn't look realistic at all.

Snow White's nose is sometimes not visible

These princess eyes are scary and the pupils don't fit in her eyes.

His eyebrows are thin

_____________________________________________________

Oh my god, she's so ugly except for her crimson lips and rosy cheeks! In the movie, either the mirror was broken or the movie was. Snow White is so ugly! Duh should make it to the list of the ugliest in the world!
I believe in love at first sight, but it sounds ridiculous and isn't exactly love. Love at first sight often happens with classic princesses:
1- Snow White
2- Cinderella
3- Ariel

These princesses fall in love the first time they see it, but that's ridiculous because you can't fall in love with someone you've just seen. Actually, that might be it, but it just depends on the prince being handsome. Snow White fell in love with her prince the moment she saw him, and that was just for the prince's appearance. That's why I don't like love at first sight in DP movies.

In Frozen, one of my favorite Disney...

I've always loved Rapunzel, she's number four on my favorite princess list. But some people don't agree with me so I'll explain that.

Why people dislike Rapunzel:

1- They see Rapunzel as someone who can do anything, they look for flaws
I cant believe! Why do people see Rapunzel as a completed character? Hobbies and resourcefulness don't make her a do-it-all. For example, I swim, write stories, play the piano, take singing lessons, take a software course, but that doesn't mean I'm perfect or boring. On the contrary, it makes me an influential person and a colorful personality.

2- People hate Rapunzel's...

Almost every Aurora fan hates Princess Audrey. I will explain to you why:
"Because it looks like Aurora raised Audrey to be a bad person"
No, neither Aurora nor Audrey had any fault in this. Audrey was choosing to be bad just because her heart broke. If Ben had chosen Audrey over Mal, then Audrey would still be good.

Seriously, don't you pity Audrey, heartless? Wouldn't your heart break if your boyfriend suddenly left you and started dating someone else?

Moreover, there was a small detail in the song "Queen of Mean". In one of the many pictures in Audrey's room, the childhood photos of Ben and...

As much as I love Frozen I and II, I think I am really starting to get real tired of it's fans becoming Elsa lovers and not recognizing Anna's character development and how much she has changed since the first movie.

What really gets me worked up is that ever since the second movie came on November 22, 2019, everyone began turning into huge unnecessary assholes and bragging about Elsa's new outfit and two doubled solo songs singing about her powers and who she is meant to be and why. They're all so flamboyant to say that Elsa has let go of the past and is staying strong and getting ready for...

I grew up loving everything about Ariel; her singing voice, her eyes, her hair, her being a mermaid, her dream, everything. I love how she collects anything from land that she can get her hands on, her curiosity, and her fearlessness. -BB2010

My favorite things about Ariel is her curious and bubbly personality and her beautiful singing voice. -LMH5113

I have loved everything about her, including her impulsivity, her curiosity and thirst for knowledge, her perseverance, and her indomitable spirit in the face of the harshest obstacles that would deter practically any other princess. In my opinion,...
