And yes, I’m still on the topic of dubbing. I’m pleased to say that at least “Sleeping Beauty” escaped the policy of redubbing in Germany. “Cinderella” has mostly still the original dub, but for the DVD release some “marketing genius” decided that they had to change the opening scene. Who cares about the back story of Cinderella, let’s explain the audience that “Cinderella” is the American version of “Aschenputtel”. The explanation is not even correct, since the movie is based on the French version of the fairy-tale, which is much different from the German one. And for some reason they decided to replace the songs at the beginning and end of the movie with orchestral versions.

Thinking about it, the changes on “Cinderella” are the ones, which make the angriest, because they seem to be so senseless, and they insult the intelligence of the audience. I could watch the movie as a child without the information. But the movie which got the worst redubbing overall is “The little Mermaid”. The first one was not even ten years old when they did a new one – and really, the only way I can explain this one is that this one is somehow related to rights on the original dub Disney sold, because they changed really everything, although they say that they wanted it to be modern and “closer” at the original. Right, every single sentence is somehow different (do they really try to tell me that nothing from the first dub was “original” or “modern” enough?), and if anything, it’s further away from the English version. And the voice acting, especially for Triton, is just not as convincing overall. But you can compare for yourself:

Thankfully, “The little Mermaid” was the last movie which got this treatment, although I am peeved that Disney changed some lines in the English version of “Aladdin” and “Pocahontas”, and I dislike the additional scenes for “Beauty and the Beast” and “Lion King”. NEVER TOUCH THE CLASSICS!

But concerning the theme of “being close to the English dubbing” – well, the new Disney movies are very close, it makes barely a difference which version you watch. The older ones – not so much. With “Cinderella” and “Sleeping Beauty” it’s a little bit like watching two different movies, and I personally like the German versions better. The dialogues in both movies are a little bit wittier – those are only small changes, but they make a difference. I.e. when the mice are fetching the key, Gus (who is called Karli in the German version), constantly says “Karli kann nicht mehr!” (Karli can’t go on!) with more and more desperation in his voice. One change I don’t like about the German version is that in this one Cinderella sings “I have seen him in my dreams”, which might be the explanation why so many people seem to think that she is waiting for her prince.

In “Sleeping Beauty” the dialogues in the English version are mostly spoken like everyone is constantly reciting a poem, which makes them a little bit draggy. In the German version the voice acting is more natural, and especially the three fairies are funnier as a result. If I had to choose my favorite side-character, they would win hands down, but I’m not sure if I would like them that much if I only knew the English dubbing.

Ok so ariel was my 3rd favorite but then I re watched her movie and I have to admit she dropped way low I realized I loved her movie not really her as a person then Merida was my 13th but I moved her up because her actions were understandable anyway I'd thought I'd rant about it to get it out of my system and for someone to maybe change my mind *sorry for my grammar and/or spelling that might go wrong in this article*

Ariel has a lovely life under the sea however she likes the human world and discovers there stuff in shipwrecks and collects their junk. Now her father doesn't like that because...

So overall the reaction to the princess redesign has been very positive. Minus a few cons I will discus.
I want to talk more about the subtle things the creators have put in which makes them special. So I put together this little review of the new designs
Keep in mind these are designed mostly for children's merchandise therefore yes the designs stray a bit from the original and the colors may seem too bright but these are for sales purposes. So I won't be criticizing the parts put in for sale designs
(All Images at the bottom)

So lets start with Snow White:
Pros: Her face looks very pretty but...

Well, I have to say that this topic is very upsetting to me. I have never seen the movie Mulan as an insult to my nation. But it was. Although I can speak English, Russian and Spanish as well as Turkish, I am originally Azerbaijani and Turkish. And at this point I realize that Shan Yu is actually Turkish. Look. The first known Turkish State is the Asian Hun State and they are also known as "Huns" which is the nation of Shan Yu's army. Moreover, the Chinese built the Great Wall of China to protect their homeland from the attacks of the Turks. I searched on the internet and it turned out that...

I LOVE HER!
I LOVE HER!
My list of favorite Disney Princesses has undergone a slight change. Moreover, this time I will start from 12, not 10.

12- Merida
The only princess I hate is Merida. Actually, she was one of my favorite princesses for a while, but as I got older, I started to dislike her. And right now Merida is at the worst place on my list.
Merida fans: Crying
Those who don't like Merida: Happy
I don't like Princess Merida because she thinks illogically and ruins her life despite her mother's efforts.

11- Aurora
Well Aurora is a much loved princess and I know you adore her but I... I don't like her very much. She...

10- Princess Mulan
Just being in the bottom of my list, doesn't make her VERY ugly. How can I say she is just... Less prettiest. I love her black hair and her eyes are pretty OK for me, but her eyebrows... They are very thick especially when she becomes a boy.
Also, her eyebrows are raised a lot higher than they should be, which makes her pretty ugly.

9- Princess Merida
I just adore the color and curve of her hair. But her face and eyes are too round. Especially her eyes. OMG, her eyes are like some strange balls. Her smile isn't ugly, but her teeth are very small.

8- Princess Esmeralda
She...

1. Congrats on being Fan of the Month! How does it feel?
Thank you!! I am very honored and I feel very excited because this is the first time I'm Fan of the Month.

2. How did you find this spot and what made you stay?
I'm a big fan of anime, I remember watching “Fushigi Yuugi” at that time. I was obsessed with Tasuki. I still like him (but I don't get obsessed anymore, LOL). Anyway, I was looking for pictures and screenshots of him. That's how I found Fanpop. My reasons for staying? Because I like to participate in activities (polls, quizzes, answers), I made good friends, I love sharing...
