I dream about how I had first laid my eyes on Jim Hawkins every single day. My regal, mermaid sisters always hope to go on land and meet the love of their life. Every time they talk about that one subject I try not to listen. Unfortunately, I have no other to place to go but stay in the castle of Atlantica. I just turn my back as they start the subject. They have no idea what I had been through the past month.
I always peeked through a hole in the ship. Watching him either mopping the deck or scrubbing the masts. No one had caught me but one day, Jim caught a glimpse of my lovestruck look in my eyes. His reaction was something to remember. He was surprised, yet shocked and afraid. We mermaids are harmless. Especially if we are princesses. I hid behind the window. A mermaid or merman wasn't supposed to be near humans. And our instinct, whenever we're in that type of situation, is to quickly flee or find a place to hide.
Whenever I smell the scent of an undersea flower, it reminds me of Jim. And it almost feels like he's there to accompany me. His presence lingers in my sisters' and my bedroom. Often times, I swim away from our kingdom and find a place where I can spend time alone.
"Don't be afraid." Jim said calmly. I smiled. No one had ever spoken to me like that before. Only my mother but she passed many years ago. I slowly peered up an I saw his face. His smile was warm and I could almost feel his
contagious good mood.
Whenever my sisters, my father and I went for our usual family stroll, I always spot the very seaweed plant that reminded me of another seaweed plant that I had used to
tickle Jim all over when took walks. I swam in the water and Jim always walked on the deck not so far away. The seaweed made me smile when I tickled Jim. But now the memory haunts me since we're not supposed to smile or talk.
Jim's family had always had trouble with money. They sent Jim to work on the ship as a job. When he found out his mother had died of cancer, he cried every night out on the deck. Not believing that something as tragic as his mother's death had happened. I saw him one evening. He was just crying his eyes out. I asked him what was wrong and he confessed. "I'm sure she's in a better place right now." That's the sentence that ignited our night-long argument/fight. Our fight was filled with You wouldn't understands and my calm it's okays. Our argument died out and Jim's tears dried out.
One day, as I gazed in my usual spot on the ship, Jim got into a fight. A spider-like creature was choking him and was holding him up against a mast. I quickly threw something at Spider Legs and I yelled, "Leave him alone!" Spider Legs just gave me a deadly stare that could melt glass.
I grab another undersea flower and stare at its beauty.
The memory of Jim and I holding each others hand appears in my mind. "I'll always be here to protect you. I love you." Jim told me. I grinned.
I let the flower go and it floats away in the slight water current. Suddenly, the memory of our first kiss is played back. It was such a beautiful moment. The kiss was my and our first kiss. I lay my arm on my fin. Watching the flower float away was like watching your love going to waste.
One day, my Daddy found me in my secret grotto. We got into an argument. I don't remember what it was about but I know it had to do with me sneaking off every night to see Jim. I had accidently slipped a secret out to Daddy. "Daddy I love him!" My Daddy didn't take it very wll. I bit the inside of my lip and watched as Daddy waved his trident towards the sky. A lightning bolt struck the clouds and it started a dangerous storm. I knew Jim's ship was above the sea. I figured that the storm had hit them. So I swam as fast a I could towards the ship. The horrid storm was corrupting the waves and lightning bolts hit everywhere with no control. The waves crashed down on the ship forcing everyone to jump. All but one. Jim tried to jump off but it was too late. The ship crashed into land and Jim was no where to be found. I searched everywhere for him but he wasn't in sight.
The next day, I watched from afar as some strangers were setting lit candles on the ocean for those who has died. Jim was one of them.
Ever since the storm, I cry in my grotto whenever I think about Jim, his life and our love. All of our precious memories are permanently scarred into my mind.
My sisters always expect Daddy to come into our room to say good night. Which is followed by their we love yous. Whenever Daddy speaks to me, I say "I hope you're happy." And every time I do, he knows exactly what I'm talking about.
My depression got me no where and I can't stay in the one place that reminds me of Jim. I swim out to my grotto and admire my human things. I know that Jim still lives in my heart. The moon is full and above me. It's like I can
see Jim's face inside of the moon. He's smiling at me. I know that every night the moon is full, it's like Jim is right beside me.

As suggested by GypsyMarionette, I'm going to make a step-by-step process on how to manipulate an image.
*This is to help other users who want to make an OC. :)
