Damon & Elena Question

How did u feel about the ‘DE rain kiss’ in 6.07?

I understand a lot of DE fans have always wanted n hoped that the writers would one day fulfill this wish of theirs n they did. To be honest, I’ve never really been that interested in ‘rain kisses’ between certain couples but if it comes to DE, they might make it into an interesting n ravishing thing for me. It’s a clever approach from the writers; showing that rain kiss during the time when DE were having the summer of their lives. Honestly, I just wish if the writers would’ve shot the kiss scene a bit more perfectly, after Damon promised Elena that ‘this is forever’, from all the sides n angles like the way they did it with the 3.10 ‘the new deal’ DE kiss -_____-

I loved it to bits, but what I loved even more is how they did it. I've seen many people call it fanservice, and to be completely honest, it is. We all know our fandom was pushing towards a rain kiss since that rain scene in 1x17, and even the writers acknowledged it. But what was fascinating, is that the writers took that rain kiss, and loaded it with so much meaning, it can't just be considered fanservice (a bone that is thrown towards a fandom and doesn't impact the story in the slightest), because it added another layer to the story and DE. Namely, the rain metaphor, where the scene symbolizes their entire relationship.
The rain is a symbol for all the hardships they face. When there's a bump in the road, Damon, the pessimist (although he's that only because he's a crushed optimist), is ready to give up, but Elena, the eternal optimist, convinces him to stay. "It will clear up" she says.
It doesn't. But instead of giving up, they embrace it. They learn to live with the hardships, and kiss in the rain.
And together with the promise I've forever uttered, it means so much more.
