Hope lost, or just another rumour?

As most of you have probably heard, if you keep up with the internet, there's been a lot of 'information' about the actual plot of The Vampire Diaries changing with tension between Nina and Ian. I find it hard to believe that the writers would drastically change the story because of this (not to mention my reluctance to believe what I read on the internet at face value).
However, I want to know what you guys think! What do you think this will mean for Delena? Will it be the end of our hopes, is it another rumour, or do you think it will cool down and allow us fans to still see what we want to? Do you think it's really such a big deal?
