Colin Morgan Talks Emotional Testament of Youth Shoot: 'It Was An Eye Opener' 

Colin Morgan is having a great start to 2015. Fresh from starring in one of the most acclaimed British TV dramas of recent years, The Fall, the Northern Irish actor is appearing in 2015 big screen epic, Testament of Youth. EntertainmentWise caught up with one of our favourite actors of the moment to talk about the emotional film.

Based on Vera Brittain\'s beloved memoirs, Testament of Youth tells the story of love torn apart by World War 1. Vera (Alicia Vikander) is a free-spirit in the constraints of the pre-war years, overcoming the prejudices of her family and hometown to win a scholarship to Oxford. While immersing herself in her literary heroes, she falls in love with her brother’s close friend Roland Leighton (Game of Throne favourite, Kit Harington). But as WW1 breaks out Roland heads off to fight while Vera realises she cannot sit idly by so volunteers as a nurse.

With her fiancé, her brother and their closest friends, including Colin\'s character Victor Richardson, all fighting for their country, Vera\'s story is full of loss and heartbreak but also of indefatigable spirit.

Colin told us at last night\'s London premiere for the film that he and his co-stars felt a "duty" to portray these real life men and women as truthfully as they could. "It’s an emotional, truthful, heartfelt account of what happened and to be a part of that, to have a duty to those people is an honour as an actor," says the actor "You know, you’re studying peoples lives you’re reading their work, you’re speaking their words and a lot of us did feel a duty to honour them."

Colin added though that he and Kit managed to find lighter moments in between shooting the heart wrenching scenes. "I think because it’s documented and a testament of the time there was a sense of us all being on the same page and banding together, Kit, Taron [Egerton] and myself all read the letters that the guys wrote amongst each other so it was important for us. But it never felt heavy, because at the end of the day they are young people of the time and they are very much of the spirit of young people today, just obviously with massive differences between us, so that was an eye opener for us."

We\'ve seen the film and can promise you, Colin puts in another mesmerising performance! Away from his big screen roles, Colin also filled us in on his other current projects, revealing:

"I was just in the midst of filming Humans, which is an AMC, Channel 4 drama. I’ve been filming all day and Legends is coming out at the end of the year with Tom Hardy so I\'m really looking forward to it."

Sounds like 2015 is going to be huge for Colin! Testament of Youth opens in UK cinemas on January 16.
