Christianity Question

Is it OK for Christians to watch Anime and read Manga books? I ask this, cause my friend don't wanna watch it anymore. And he acts like he is better than me.

Well basically my friend liked Anime. And Japanese stuff. Now he wants to say how it is just sinful Chinese cartoons. And that were Americans. And not Chinese to be watching all these sinful Chinese cartoons. And he wants to make out as he is being a better Christian than me, just cause he no longer wants anything to do with Anime. It gets annoying after a while hearing my friend act like he is the better Christian than me, just cause he gave up Anime. I dunno what else I should do. I am trying to be a loving Christian about all of it. And forgive him. But it is getting on my nerves hearing him knock Anime and say he better off with God not watching them sinful shows. He makes me feel like I am lacking in my faith with God when he puts me down for liking Anime, Manga. And Hatsune Miku Vocaloid Music. I dunno what else to do. My friend is acting like one of them Pharaces. I dunno how to spell it, but the bible says it's people who act better thin others over anything. I dunno what else to do. I tried talking to him about it, but he doesn't care anymore on what I say about it.

That is a tough question. Personally, I love anime, but I’ve never thought of it as sinful. However, it depends on what type of anime you’re talking about. Some anime’s have a good themes that are about friendship and love (which are ones that I prefer to watch) while others are violent and inappropriate. Short answer: no, it is not sinful. Just choose what you watch wisely and try to ignore inappropriate, violent and graphic (ones that contain blood and gore) ones.

The thing is, a lot of this stuff is worldly and kind of a waste of time. I mean, you spend hours on this kind of stuff. Plus a ton of it is violent and contradicts Christianity. Tbh…I don’t encourage you to read/watch anime/manhwa, cause it doesn’t really help ur spiritual growth, and it also can become a big idol. Are you spending more time on this than with God? Are you on your pc 24/7 watching anime nonstop? Is most of ur life centered around this? If you can control urself, it should be fine. Anyway, this is my honest opinion.

Yes, it is. Where did your friend ever find God's 11th Commandment, which says: „Thou shalt not watch anime!" and also the 12th, which goes: „Thou shalt not read manga books!" in the entire Old Testament??? You can watch and read whatever *you* want, not what your friend wants. God won't mind for sure! He's too busy with some other, more important stuff right now, than to judge people based on what they read or watch.
