Christianity Question

Is unchristian music allowed?

Recently I've been listening to music that wasn't christian and I liked it alot. My mom said that if I was christian it wasn't allowed, but recently people have told me that as long as I don't let the negativity of certain un-christian music get to my head and worship the lord Jesus Christ like I should, I should be all right. Now I'm Confused and I wonder who's right. HELP???

Let me put it this way - the Bible isn't the only book you read, is it? Just because music doesn't celebrate God and Christ doesn't mean it's not worth listening to. It's like poetry and literature. Listen to what you want, just don't betray your own values and beliefs.

Besides, if it's really "un-Christian", just don't take its messages to heart. I think there are messages in certain teenage literature that is destructive, but I still read it to know what they're reading, and to be able to discuss it with them and set them straight. If you know the music, you can talk to people about why music about, for example, having lots of sex and killing people, provides a perfect example of what NOT to do.

You're not a sheep, right? You don't just do whatever you see on TV. If you watch Law and Order, you don't go out and kill someone because that's what they did on the show. It's entertainment, not a morality lesson. But, like I said, you can MAKE it a morality lesson by using it as example of what NOT to do.

I listen to all kinds of music, whether it's Christian or not. My family isn't really religious, so no one is there to try and stop me like in your situation. However, I do feel that it's okay so long as the music doesn't push you away from Christ or drive you to do weird stuff.

I listen all sorts of music, and most of'em are un- christian and I'm a believer. I think that those who are Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to listen any sort of music except psalms. Of course i have also music which is christian. But the most important is that you're happy and if you're happy when you listen un- christian music then why not you can't listen it. We all are sinners and we can't live without doing sins. That's how's it been since human commoned a sin.
Becides Jesus forgives everyones sins. That's why He came to us to die for us so that we can enter to Heaven when we die and if we believe in Him.

It depends...there is a lot of non-Christian music that is not bad at all, and there is some non-Christian music that is bad. My parents don't really care about it as long as it's not really awful, but I do try to stay away from the bad music. If it is non-Christian music but there is nothing wrong with it, then it should be fine.

As long as the words are not blasphemous to God. As as long as the words are not bad, or evil, then why not lesson to GOOD music. I lesson to rock-n-roll. But I'm picky about which songs I lesson to.
