I watched it when I was young. The original is soooo much better.

By Cardcaptors, do you mean the english version of Cardcaptors sakura or just the anime?
if it's the english version, i watched it when i was young too, and i did like it. but after seeing the series in japanese, i found out that there are lots of parts missing in Cardcaptors. for example, sakura and syaoran didn't love each other (or else, very subtly). there wasn't any touya and yukito either. but i found that the voices were much better.

To clarify: When Nelvana dubbed Cardcaptor Sakura, they renamed it Cardcaptors to make it more appealing to boys. (Because OF COURSE guys would never watch a show named Cardcaptor Sakura.)

I have a lot of beef with the dub. They messed with the characters a lot and in the process they messed up the plot, all in the attempt of making it more "American." They made Tomoyo-chan a retard who can't spell (because of course girls in America can't spell), they removed all hints of any homosexual relationships (because there aren't any in America) [INCLUDING: the fake non-relationship between Syaoran and Yukito] and made Sakura a ditz.

I'm actually writing an essay on this topic for my English class.

I really can't stand what they did to the dub. I mean, I'm usually not too nit-picky about voice acting and what-not... but they just changed too much and took things out. And they also removed parts where Sakura admitted to being afraid or frightened - because they wanted to make Sakura a "strong female role model for girls"... as if a strong female can't have any weaknesses :P That's part of what made Sakura so likable, is that she was this powerful cardcaptor, but she still freaked out about ghosts XD

And yeah, removing all the homosexual relationships and sorta-relationships in the series is ridiculous. I mean, they're ALL OVER the series. They had to pretty much change everything to get rid of them.

And they changed the order of the episodes around.

Well, really... there's nothing they didn't change totally and ruin in the process. There's a website somewhere with a more in-depth comparison of the two. I'll try to find the link and post it in the links section here, if it isn't already there :) It might help you with your essay.

Since I'm in Canada, I didn't seen the whole hell you saw, but it was still pretty bad. (And even after all the butchering, I still thought Yukito & Toya had something going on.)

that's not true. there are episodes in which she was afraid of ghosts. for example, episode 23 with the song card and episode with the basketball. there was even the part where touya explains why she was afraid of them. if i remember well, it's episode 6 "Seeing is believing" with the illusion card.

Really? I remember her being the smartest student of her class. i don't remember which episode, but it's when they receive their report card, and sakura was freaking out, tomoyo was calm and she got pretty much straight A.

Me too. it hasn't been long since i've finished watching the original. before i did, and i was on cardcaptors sakura fandoms, i was so lost. especially with the names.

Perhaps we should make this a forum topic or something. it's a lot of discussions on just comments for a pick.

I found the voices in Cardcaptors better than in Cardcaptors sakura. sorry, but i just found sakura's and tomoyo's voice a little, idk, unaturally soft and girly. also, i prefered yue's voice in cardcaptors. well, the more i watch the original, the more i get used to it, so it doesn't bother me anymore. but the worst voice is in the second movie, the sealed card. tomoyo's voice just sounded fake.

I'm in Canada too. In quebec, to be more precise. so, i've also watched it in french: "Sakura, chasseuse de cartes". it wasn't as bad actually. there was sakura and syaoran (lionel) moments, unlike cardcaptors. the only thing was that there wasn't any touya and yukito.

Cardcaptor's is cool!

CardCaptor Sakura is better BY FAR :)

To me, they're like two completley different shows.
Cardcaptors brings back memories of my younger years, and I love it in all it's crappy-glory. I can still sing the theme tune off by heart.~ <3 xDD

Cardcaptor Sakura is epic and amazing and fantastic,the storyline is very good and the realtionships are captivating, it's better than cardcaptors by far... Which doesn't mean I dont love Cardcaptors too. xD

cardcaptors.... I have so much to say about it, and just about none of it good. if I watch the anime, I watch CCS subbed. I avoid "cardcaptors" like the plague. the manga is the best though. it is just sooooooo good.
