I didn't like him all that much. Sometimes he got on my nerves.

I don't think any of them are overrated. If anything I think Xander is underrated. There's a lot of people who don't like him but I think he's a well-developed, multilayered character with good and bad qualities. Just like everyone else on this list.

i agree with fanfly all the character's new and old are all multilayered that's why the show was as great as it was and still is with re-runs and the comics joss wheadon and everyone created something special.

He was the loyalist of the group. Whether he was being judgemental or clumsy, or just plain irritating, he was still always there no matter what in his own Xander way. I find that endearing. The only characters I've ever found on BTVS to be overrated was Darla and Cordelia.

i chose buffy because she was in every episode, and she had way more lines than any other charecter, i lov buffy soooo much, but i just dont think that she was very good, like wen she was with spike, i hated those episodes!!!!!, but i lov buffy.

Excuse me how can Buffy ever be rated too highly of? She's bloody awesome. Buffy is more than worthy of the merits that are given to her, in fact I'd say she isn't given enough. She's the most selfless, brave, and forgiving of all the scoobies put together. When has Buffy ever stabbed her friends in the back and betrayed them? Not as many times as they've done to her that's for sure.

I think Buffy was given too much screen time in the first season and no one else in the show could protect themselves. Everyone except Buffy was perceived as weak, especially Xander and Willow.
