Asvini picked Anya:
Definetly Anya. I always thought Cordelia was ok, but Anya is one of my favourite characters.

I also think the bluntness seemed less bitchy coming from her, she had the demon thing as an excuse, she wasn't just rude. Also they could take it further and make her more comedic with an ex-demon. They could do things that would seem stupid and over the top from a human, but from her they were funny.

Anya is one of the best characters on the show! She is constantly hilarious with her bluntness (which Asvini pointed out wasn't as bitchy coming from her because she had the ex-demon excuse), she's the perfect woman for Xander, and she her character from season 3 to season 7 is awesome. Plus her dying in the final battle was heartbreaking! I love Cordelia much more in Angel, and even if this was comparing Angel Cordy to Buffy Anya, Anya would still win. Anya is simply made of awesomeness.

"There's a chimp playing hockey?! We have to see the chimp playing hockey, that's hilarious!"

Willow: But you don't even know him!
Anya: Yes, I do. I looked into him and saw his soul.
Willow: He was walking away, so unless his soul was in his ass -
Anya: A.J. is my best friend and my dearest darling -
Willow: It's R.J. And what you were picking up on was his deep caring and devotion to me!

"Even if you found the right one, guy would probably just do an anti-anti-love spell, spell... spell."

"I wasn't sure if I should slap him...but then he made me want to so I thought "Okay, slap him!"

"Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes! They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses! And what's with all the carrots, what do they need such good eye sight for anyWAAAAY! Bunnies, bunnies, it must be bunnies!"

"She killed him, ripped him apart, and bloodied up the forest doing it. And you're next."

"His penis got diseases from a chumash tribe!"

Quentin: Yes, excuse me, you work here?
Anya: Yes, I do. Ever since I moved here from south-eastern Indiana where I was raised by both a mother and a father.

"Anya Christina Emanuella Jenkins, 20 years old...born on the fourth of July--and don't think there weren't jokes about that my whole life, Mr., because there were. 'Who's our little patriot?' they'd say when I was younger, and therefore smaller and shorter than I am now."

Wow...I really got caught up in my quotage!

Cinders picked Cordy:
I like them both, but Cordelia's character arc from Buffy to Angel is absolutely fantastic. Anya is great, but her arc isn't nearly as interesting as Cordy's.

In fact, I'm rewatching Angel right now, and just saw "That Vision Thing" and the things she said to Angel, "I'm not brave. I don't want the visions anymore," really touched me. Cordy has a way of doing that, being ridiculously frivelous one moment, and then incredibly deep the next. I love that about her. Anya has that too, a little, the moments of depth that we get to glimpse, and I'm not saying she's a frivelous character at ALL. I just absolutely adore Cordy's arc from "Welcome to the Hell Mouth" all the way through to "You're Welcome." In fact, the only character arc I love more is Wesley's. Hot DAMN does that boy change!

Since they both have similar senses of humor, and similar purposes in Buffy, it came down to simply who had the best story arcs and plots, and Cordelia definitely wins that battle for me. And not just on Angel! "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" is one of my favorite Buffy episodes.

And I like the fact that Cordelia was a bitch, and everyone knew it. The fact that Anya was half-demon, I don't see that as a reason for her remarks being less bitchy at all "because she's half demon." I'm far more impressed that Cordelia could be that honest BEING HUMAN. People are always afraid of what others will think of them, especially in high school, but Cordelia never was.

I don't think Cordelia's brand of honesty in high school was the good kind. She exited the 'be true to yourself' category and went straight into bitchy. She wasn't exactly being rude to the popular kids was she? in fact the only time she stood up to them was about beinng with Xander, the rest of the time she was only rude to the shy or upopular kids.

I think it's better from Anya because she isn't trying to be hurtful like Cordy, she just didn't understand why what she was saying was rude.

Still I like Cordelia too, and she had an interesting story arc.

errrmm yeah she was she always told everyone what she thought of them especially when it came to what they were wearing, and when she knew about the scooby gang she didnt tell bout them and kinda feared for their safety as a group, anya only cared becasue she liked sex which just happened to be with xander, even then she didnt really care until season 7, her character was just a fill in for the spot cordy left, and in my eyes nothing beats the original!

Cordelia is one of my fave characters on buffy and angel!
i just love her brutual honesty, personality, storyarc...it made me cry when cordelia dies in "Your Welcome" she has changed so much from "Welcome to the Hellmouth" to now, what a character, someone who was forced to smell the roses and grow up and become something/someone else meant for much more
