Buffy the Vampire Slayer Question

Why did spike...?

I have not watched all the angel episodes... to be honest i only watched the ones with or about buffy... than i heard "smile time" was a very funny episode... and than i saw spike was there!! what i want to know is though... is if spike loved Buffy sooo much in the buffy series... why did he stay with angel... and not go looking for buffy after he came back!!!

Well the reason Spike gave was that he died a hero in Buffy's eyes and he didn't want to ruin that. Especially since he thought that Buffy would never really love him anyway.

Spike couldn't leave L.A. The Spike's soul became tied to the amulet he was wearing when he died. And the amulet is tied to Wolfram & Heart. And Wolfram & Heart is tied to L.A. In a roundabout sort of way, Spike is tied to L.A., which means he can't leave.

When he stopped being a ghost, he could leave L.A. He said he didn't want to ruin the hero thing and said it would be "awkward" calling or going to Buffy.
