I hate picking both, makes me feel like I'm just being indecisive. I almost never go with that option on picks. I really do think she loved them both, but in different ways though. I think she loved Angel more passionately and Spike more honestly.

I personally like Spike much more, because I think he was very original and funny:) But even so I think Buffy loved Angel more...

That's impossible to say, she loved them both differently. One's the first love, one's the matured/tainted/grown-up love. There is no way to compare them. I think her love for Angel was probably more toxic and passionate, but she and Spike still had a strong and pure love by the end, it's really impossible to say.

Through out every show she always says she's totally in love with Angel!! Even though she had a thing with Spike, She was always honest enough to tell Spike she wasn't in love with him and was using him. Even when he got his soul; she told him, she wasn't in love with him!! At the end of season eight when Spike was giving his life to be a champion he knew she didn't love him but "Thanks for saying it"!!!

^^ In the commentary for Chosen Joss said he told Sarah Michele Gellar to 'love him when you say you love him' when telling her how to play Buffy telling Spike she loved him, so I take that as confirmation from Joss that Buffy really did love Spike. I think she did mean it, but the circumstances stopped Spike from believing her.

Buffy loved Angel more then anyone because Angel is the only guy she will ever truly love. There is no other guy for Buffy but Angel. Buffy never truly loved Spike or Riley because they were just replacements for Angel. Angel is the only guy she will ever truly love and even Spike knew that she was in love with Angel and not him.

I think in her own way she loved, cared about angel and spike in her own way, as both played a vital, important part in her life; with the relationships she had with both angel and spike being different, new and special in their own way; she trusts, cares about both of them and their wellbeing, as she has stood by their sides in times of need; (Angel: two parter of Whats my Line, Amends, Beauty and the Beast Spike: the whole of season 7 where spike was a liability to the group but Buffy believed in SPike to make a conscious choice to change and be a better person (or well vampire lol)

I don't belive Buffy truly loved Spike. She cared about him, and she learned to trust him. He helped her so many times and in the end prooved that he's a champion.

Buffy: I love you.
Spike: No you don't, but thank's for saying it.

Even he knew she cared about him, but she didn't loved him not as much as she loved Angel.

Angel is the only man she ever loved.

She HAS said so. I like Spike, but she was never totally in love with him.

Well given the fact that Buffy said of Angel "I loved him more than I will ever love anything in this life", I think the choice is pretty clear.

No question about it, angel all the way!! he was, is and always will be the one true love of buffys life. i think she loved spike to some exctent, but her féelings for him, where noway near as intense as they where for angel, so yes ANGEL ALL THE WAY!!

I think if Buffy hadn't been so messed up from Angel and if Buffy and Spike would have had a chance to have a proper relationship she could have loved Spike more but I think she did love Angel more. Though I think Spike loved Buffy more than Angel did.

*Just to add something after reading the comments, there's no doubt in my mind that Buffy didn't love Spike (in the end), Buffy doesn't just say I love you to many people. You saw how hard it was for her to admit that, if she just told Spike she loved him to make him feel better she would have done the same for Riley and she never did. Buffy never told Spike what he wanted to hear so why would she start now?
