Daiki and Hinata face off, and Daiki has a secret that will blow everyone away. This goes out to Robyn.
Hinata had felt it again, this time from Kimiko's direction. Dark, evil energy. But again, the minute the grass shinobi died, so had the energy. This made Hinata extra wary of Daiki. But she still hadn't been able to figure out why she hated Daiki so much. The Hyuga boy from Hinata's nightmare, the one that had been seated with Daiki on the same pew, had died a few days after Daiki had betrayed the leaf village. Hideaki Hyuga, who had been ten like Hinata when Daiki had betrayed the village, couldn't stand for Daiki's betrayal. Hideaki had been part of the main branch, like Hinata, so he felt an obligation to become stronger to retrieve Daiki himself, and prevent future betrayals. So Hideaki trained on top of the stone head of Third Hokage to become stronger. But a few days after Daiki's betrayal, Hideaki had slipped off the stone head and plummeted straight to the ground. But looking back at the memory, it seemed oddly plastic.
Daiki, for the first time since the battle's start, was feeling scared. His friends were all dead besides Izumi, and they had died rather violently. This gave Daiki the sensation of being in over his head. He looked behind him at the Hyuga girl, who looked at him with undiluted hatred. Daiki still had some of the old swagger left, though. After all, Daiki had a secret weapon, one he had obtained ten years ago. Daiki looked back again. There was something familiar about the Hyuga girl, but he just couldn't place his finger on it.
Emi was on her way to the Hyuga compound when she realized something, and took out her pearl brush. It was the same brush that she had thrown out the window of her room in the Hot Springs village, but Emi picked it up afterwards, because her pearl brush was special. Her mother, who had always been an obidient sheep to her father, had given Emi the pearl brush when Emi had been three. The other reason it was special was that it held all the memories that Emi had ever wiped and/or replaced. (besides Kiyori's, whose memories were in a locket Emi wore around her neck.) Emi looked at the back of the brush. Some of the pearls looked normal, because they didn't hold any memories. Some of the pearls were cracked in half, because the owner had retrived the memory on their own. A few pearls were black, because the owner of the memory had died without every recovering the lost memory. The rest of the pearls shone fiercely with the memory they held. One pearl was vibrating. Emi tapped this pearl with her finger. A name popped out: Hinata Hyuga. Emi gasped, and reviewed the lost memory, one Hinata didn't even know was missing. Yet.
Daiki finally stopped running. Hinata stopped as well, and looked at her enemy. Daiki had very dark hair, and light brown eyes with a tinge of indigo. He was mildly tall, and looked muscular. His face had the usual swagger. Looking at him, Hinata felt the plastic memory in her head vibrate. "well," Daiki said, "we finally meet face to face." "who are you?" Hinata asked, "why do I feel like I know you?" "I have no idea," Daiki said, "you do look familiar, but I can't think of why. Not that it matters." Daiki got into fighting pose. "I'm bringing you in." Hinata got into fighting pose as well, her inexplicable hatred for Daiki coursing through her body, giving her strength.
Emi covered her mouth in horror as she finished viewing Hinata's lost memory. "oh my god!" she exclaimed, "what kind of monster does that to a ten-year old kid?!" Hinata was in debt to Emi, because no person could grow up normal with something like this in her past.
Daiki felt weak for the first time in his life. The Hyuga girl had activated her Byakugan, and attacked Daiki with a ferocity that he hadn't expected, and was quickly wearing Daiki down. All of a sudden, the girl's first name came back to him: Hinata. But Daiki still couldn't remember when he had met this girl. Then Hinata came at Daiki with twin lions on her hands, and Daiki felt it was time for his secret weapon. Daiki reached down into his pocket and took out a purple blindfold, then tied it around his eyes.
Hinata had been in the middle of Gentle Step, Twin Lion Fist when Daiki had put the blindfold over his own eyes. From that moment on, Daiki was dead even with Hinata. As the two contiued to battle, they both received equal amounts of damage. Hinata felt her stamina start to wane, but the hatred kept her going. By instinct, Hinata reached out and grabbed at Daiki's blindfold, then pulled it off. Hinata gasped, because Daiki's eyes had the Byakugan. "how do you have the Byakugan?!" Daiki paused and caught his breath.
Now that Hinata knew about Daiki's Byakugan, Daiki decided on a lie to play with the girl's head. Maybe Daiki could convince Hinata to join him. "Hinata, I knew the truth all along, and so did your father. The truth is, I'm Hideaki Hyuga's older brother." Hinata gasped, and Daiki smiled inside. «gotcha» he thought. "when Hideaki fell off the statue, your father was so angry he expelled me. I formed a group to take vengeance on that prick." Hinata flinched. "don't be like that, Hinata. I know you don't like your father either. Just you and me, Hinata. Let's overthrow your father." Daiki waited for the response. Hinata moved towards Daiki, and all of a sudden she was beating on Daiki without mercy. Daiki felt pain beyond all comprehension, and then he was on a ground, with Hinata standing over him like an executioner. "Eight Trigrams, Sixty-Four palms. You lied, Daiki," she said. "Hideaki was an only child, and the Kunochi Kiyori killed said you were a grass shinobi on the verge of being expelled." Daiki paled, remembering this. "I don't like my father sometimes," Hinata continued, "but I absolutely despise you." "WHY?!" Daiki shouted. "I never did anything to you!!" Then Daiki looked Hinata full in the eyes, and he remembered everything. "oh crap," he said, "it came back to get me."
Hinata kept poking at the plastic memory, and all of a sudden the false memory broke, flooding Hinata with the blinding truth.
Emi watched as Hinata's pearl split in half. "good luck," Emi murmured, "you're going to need it."
