There are several possible explanations. From most to least serious:

1) If you are sexually active, you may be pregnant, and should take a pregnancy test and/or see a doctor.

2) If you are not pregnant, you may have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, a manageable syndrome that I actually have (as well as 10% of all women), so if you have other questions about that, let me know. Basically, it's a hormonal imbalance that can lead to highly irregular periods, among other things. But it can also cause ovarian cysts, and increases your risk of infertility and uteran/endometrial cancer if you don't manage it.

3) Nothing might be wrong. Some women are irregular and skip periods from time to time. It happens.

Those are all the explanations I know for missing a period.

nothing's probably wrong. sometimes you just don't have your period. If you're worried, you can see a doctor.

To be honest probably best if you pop and see your doctor. If nothing else they can put your mind at rest that theres nothing odd happening. Bodies are strange and do odd things for no obvious reason.

You should consult a doctor. (S)he'll ask you relevant questions, and will be able to clear things up. Not getting your period for a couple months is quite commonplace as far as the people I know go. However, one of my friends didn't get it for quite some time, and she had some sort of hormonal imbalance. Another friend of mine was diagnosed with link. Don't panic though. I'm not giving you examples to scare you. Only so that you see the importance of consulting a doctor. And really, don't freak out. Keep calm and... visit the gynec.

The most common reason would be pregnancy, but it could also depend on how old you are. I remember (I feel so old when I say that XD) the first year I started having my period (12-13ish), it was very irregular, from having them twice a month to not having them for 4 months. Nothing scary as it was the beginning but you know it takes some time, for some women, to have "normal" periods. And again, it's not every woman's case, every woman is different and has different period.
So yeah, if you just started having your period or if you're still in your teen years but not sexually active, then I guess there's nothing to worry about. But we're not doctors (at least, I'm not XD) so I think you'd be more reassured if you went to see a doctor :)
