What I’m sure I can safely say that a hell of a lot of people have been waiting for for quite some time: the story of what happened to Ursa, a.k.a. Zuko’s Mum.

-

Dark Horse are wrapping up their three part graphic novel series “The Promise” set after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and have announced that writer of The Promise: Gene Luen Yang and Girihiru Studios will be returning to work on another series of graphic novels; The Search.

The Search will primarily focus of the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Ursa, the mother of Prince Zuko and Princess Azula, it will also reveal details of Azula’s fate following the end of the Hundred Years War, including her imprisonment in a Fire Nation mental institution and the effects this has had on her.

According to an interview with writer Yang, unlike Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, The Promise, etc. The Search will take the fire nation royal children as the main focus, while Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and co. will still be around and featuring, they will have less prominent roles than usual.

Yang has also stated that “I’m happy to say, writing “The Search” is giving me the chance to explore that side [the ‘supernatural’ side] of Aang and his world.” alluding to such events as (Spoilers for A:TLA Series 1 finale) the siege of the Northern Water Tribe and Aang’s journey into the spirit world, along with how this will define it from the previous series The Promise which focused on the political ramifications of the end of the Hundred Years War.

Yang has confirmed that The Search takes place immediately after the end of The Promise.

I for one am incredibly excited to finally have the mystery of Ursa’s disappearance revealed! Having already purchased and loved the first two parts of The Promise, I have faith that The Search will be absolutely stunning, loyal to the Avatar universe and doing great justice to the events, characters and themes of Avatar.
Getting to see how Azula’s defeat and mental breakdown has changed her over the time before The Search (I’m here assuming that Azula has been in the “unnamed Fire Nation mental institute” for the entire time period of The Promise - which is a little over a year)

Azula on Top. (NO OFFENSE IF U LIKE ZUKO)
Azula on Top. (NO OFFENSE IF U LIKE ZUKO)
Okay, so one of the things i love best about this show was the way in which it had a subtle commentary on gender roles. I know, you may ask "so, what?" or "why is this important?" Well, I'll tell you.

Often, females are portrayed as supporting characters to the all-important male protagonist. Here, this is not the case. While i am indeed a guy, i like to see that screenwriters have progressive attitudes when it comes to gender roles. If you notice, Katara is the one who brings Aang along with her, not the other way around. Often, she plays the teacher and not the damsel in distress.

Toph is,...

I still remember my chilhood in Southen Water Tribe , i was staying there with my dad, because my mom was in the Fire natiom and she couldn't stay with me, she was the Avatar and the Fire Lord. I remember how i felt in love with a general. I was 20, i was helping my father training the waterbenders. Yes i am a waterbender, but now i just heal. A Fire Nation Ship was arriving, then i saw a general coming. I knew that to go to him was my buissines.
"Hi! Can i help you?" I said to him.
"I am looking for the Fire Nation Princess Mia. Do you know where i can find her?" He said to me. Well i was the...

Chapter six: Team avatar

It was 8 a.m. I was running around the house going berserk trying to make it perfect for the team avatar. Zach sat at the table texting this new kid named Micheal who he said was related to Aang and Zuko. Now Zach calls me Micheal's grandpa. Technically I'm not but Aang was my incarnation and Aang was Micheal's grandfather. Still I punch Zach in the shoulder whenever he calls me grandpa.

"Sydney don't stress. Its just gonna be a bunch of old dudes." he said.

"AND ITS GONNA BE OUR GREAT SOMETHING GRANDFATHER!!"

"Granpa?" Jason asked walking downstairs from his slumber....

When people to talk to me about Anime, i never fail to mention my faverout shows- but whenever Avatar the last airbender crops up, people instantly jump on the fact that its apperently not a 'real anime' and im sick of it! What rite do they have to sneer at me for my taste in anime?! Just because Avatar is a low budjet creation, heavily influenced by american culture and obviously made for kids TV, it doesnt make it any less of a good show, right? I mean really, a show doesnt have to be full of spectacular art work and totally unique ideas to be enjoyable! I dont know about you guys, but presonaly i think that all the above mentioned makes it a genarelly more easy-going and light hearted show thats great to watch when your in need of a little no-brainer, fun TV!
Please tell me what YOU think!!!
