He's strait because in the manga there's a story where he and Hiei rescue a girl from a demon called six arms, that Kurama knew from school and appearently had a crush on, though he denies and turns away from any possibilty of a relationaship deveoping between them because of the fact that he is really a demon and didn't want to end up lying to the girl who was only better off thinkng he was human.

Better off being friends than to freak the girl out after the third date or so;)
