Out of all these characters, I definitely relate the most to Rika, Lain, and Ichise, but Lain especially. All the other characters (besides Ichise and Rika) really only represent one to three aspects of myself that I definitely saw in the respective character, a few of which you might not ever even see when talking to me. But Lain . . . Lain just fits me to a T. But, it's a bit more complicated than that. You might meet me and think, "What are you talking about, you're nothing like Lain!" But I can truly relate to her in a deeper way than that. The way she thinks about life, and human society. The fact that she's a more anti-social, the fact that she has just the one friend she can really count on. The way that she feels most separated from most of society, and feels distant from her family. Her symbolism of struggling with an addiction to the internet. And much, much more.

But most of all, the idea of not knowing or being sure of who you are, what you are, or why. The thought of having multiple personalities, and having different "mes" within the memories of other people. And the idea of having another you, in another world, who is entirely different from you, and who you sometimes can't control. I know those last few sound crazy, but that's personal stuff. So to cut it short, I relate to Lain and am most like her on an extremely personal level that you wouldn't be able to detect simply by meeting me and talking to me.
