does your parents ever call anime that your watching a "cartoon'' and does it make you a little mad or do u just ignore it

My mom calls it "Japanese Cartoons" and my dad calls it "Cartoons". Anime is pretty much Japanese cartoons and cartoons, just with a different name. So I'm not the least bit bothered by it.

No my parents I don't recall them ever saying it. But some jeark at school. he saw me wearing an Anime T-Shirt. he said you still like cartoons your still a baby. I told him Anime is not a cartoon according to what the Japanese people say. he made fun of me and embarresed me in class. He said I would never like cartoons there for babys. The next day he came into class with a Sesame Street T-shirt on. I said I thought you did not like cartoons said they were for babsy. he got mad at me. I told him Your wearing a Sesame Street Shirt that's a cartoon. he got mad at me. I said iof you wanna learn your Abcs count to 123 and learn how to tie your shoes again. Than wear a cartoon PBS Kids baby t-shirt. I like Anime not baby cartoons like you. If you don't like cartoons than don't wear Sesame Street cartoon shirt. I embarrassed him in class and got back at some guy boy in school class and embarrassed him. he wanted to fight me but I didn't cause I was not about to get into trouble at school.

My mom is always mixing up anime, manga, cartoons, and vocaloids. I got a DVD in the mail from netflix, it was an anime I ordered so when my mom went to give it to me she said "one of your Vocaloids came". Since she's obviously not into it or anything, and she really doesn't care that I am, I've basically just given up on really trying to correct her. In the end I know she doesn't mean any harm by it and it really doesn't matter.

My mom likes anime quite much. As for my stepdad he sometimes calls anime a "cartoon" which does upset me a little bit but for the most part I just ignored it

My parents don't really give a fuck what I watch but I'm sure they'd approve of me watching tv in Japanese because it helps improve listening comprehension.

Lol whenever I watch anime and my mum sees, she doesn't call it anime or cartoons, she asks if I'm watching Naruto.
She knows I love Naruto. But she thinks every anime is Naruto lmao....

Anime is just japanese cartoons and I don't see the reason why people so mad about anime being a cartoon it's so stupid when people get angry over this stuff really(my opinion through) and who cares if you watch it just because anime is a cartoon doesn't mean you have to stop watching it or get mad over something so stupid because cartoons also teach life lessons as well, anime isn't the only cartoon that does this there are a lot of cartoons that do the same thing as anime does, anime isn't different at all really it's just a another style of cartoon really but it's doesn't bother me because people at me about what anime is I say japanese cartoon because that's just the way it is really though anime isn't any different from cartoons and don't listen to people when they say you cant watch it just because it is a cartoon.

Yes, they have in the past... and at first, it did annoy me quite a bit... until I realized anime technically is a form of cartoons (whether we all like to admit it, or not).
I notice a lot of anime fans dismiss people (who call anime cartoons) as ignorant, but ironically, the anime fans themselves are the ones being ignorant.
One might argue, "anime can't be cartoons because it's not exclusively for children!"
That statement is untrue, because cartoons aren't exclusively for children, either. They can range greatly in demographics, just like anime.
Another might argue, "anime can't be cartoons because it's not stylized in a western fashion!"
This is also untrue because cartoons aren't exclusive to styles from western countries. As a long as a show is drawn or animated, it can be considered a cartoon (regardless of its style or origin).
Even though it annoys me when fans claim anime is not a form of cartoons, I somewhat sympathize with them. Anime has evolved into such a unique form of animation, that it's not hard to understand why one would want to separate the two.
Anime is like a branch (of the tree that is cartoons) although, it's not just any branch. It has evolved into such an in depth, complex branch that you almost want to consider it a separate tree.
Anyway, the way I see it is like this... if people want to call Japanese animation "anime", and non-Japanese animation "cartoons", that's fine (in fact, I find myself calling the two by separate names, as well).
BUT... they need to be aware of the inevitable truth that anime is indeed a form of cartoons.

Kind of :P but mostly i just ignore it,after all its basically "Japanese Cartoons"...although my mom sometimes calls it with its name (anime) and sometimes says cartoons,but for some reason i feel all flustered when she says that to my face after discovering me watching...well,i guess that's a natural instinct since i'm mostly known over here for being "Serious Mc Serious"...but anyway,yeah...i ignore and she eventually leaves me alone...oh,and i don't recall my dad ever calling them either because he's mostly at work,only going home on weekends.

Well, I'm one of the people who don't get it why are there so many anime fans who gets so furious when someone calls anime a "cartoon" because like what other people have stated above, anime is another form of cartoon and the fact that anime is the short word for "animation" and that most Japanese people call everything that is animated as "anime" which that includes western cartoons too, so you need to understand that Japanese people are different people and use the word "anime" to refer about animation in general while the rest of the world only refer the ones that were made in Japan, but I don't care if you disagree with me as long you can handle and accept my opinion on this "anime is not a cartoon" debate back which I found it to be dumb and ridiculous in my opinion and view, but I can handle your opinion back even if you disagree with me as I know that each people have different opinions, views and beliefs about something that they like, so I'm fine with that.
