answer this question
Anime Question
The worst dub jobs of all time.
What anime dubs were insultingly unloyal to the Japanese version? Not bad persay...still enjoyable to anyone who's never seen the fansubs, but have an overtly watered-down & whitewashed presence.
Examples: All cultural references are removed, the show is Americanized, the characters are renames, episodes are missing, scenes are removed, the soundtrack is replaced, characters get gender changes or have their sexual orientations compromised, the show's English target audience differs from it's Japanese target audience, etc.
Good Examples:
4Kids: Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon.
Nelvana: Card Captor Sakura, Sailor Moon.
World Events Prod.: Voltron.
Bad Examples: These messes are so bad they're good & don't really count as legit dubs because they're so different from their source material.
Bandai America: Samurai Pizza Cats. (The world's first Abridged anime).
Harmony Gold: Robotech. (Took a bunch of separate animes & smashed them together).
