Sort of. It takes a lot of Catholic design and some symbols (the cross like staffs) but the actually religion is pretty different. The anime it self was one of the most creative ones i've watched

Ah, I see now. I bet this series is too. Thanks for the info. Now I can imagine the characters have to contend with malevolent gods too?

It is really good I enjoyed it :) Yea it never got really popular I don't think but it was a cute show.

The Scrapped Princess is one of my favorite fantasy anime. The main character, the "scrapped princess", was prophesied to become the one to destroy the world by members of the main religion in this tale, which resembles a Christian church (ie, worship "Mauser" instead of Christ, etc). So everyone's out to get her (including righteous warriors and even sweet little old ladies just trying to be good practitioners of their religion), but she's really just a sweet girl. Feel so bad for her.

Ah man. That poor girl. So I take it the practitioners of this religion and overall the members of this religious group basically viewed her as the anime version of the Anti-Christ?
