I'm not really digging some things. I don't think Helena Bonham Carter is right for Julia. She doesn't have that authoritive, no-nonsense woman quality to her. The plot seems OK, I'm not too sure about having Barnabas as a playboy and a womanizer. That makes him a little unsympathetic but it does give him a bit more character I suppose. I think there were elements of the "playboy" even in original Barnabas. I doubt if Angelique was the first maidservant that he toyed with. That was actually pretty common in Barnabas' day. Wealthy men having interludes with women of a lower social standing. It's only unsympathetic when viewed in a modern context. I think Helena will do fine with the Julia role. Nobody's Grayson Hall, though. She has big shoes to fill. over a year ago

Sounds like Barnabas won't really be lying about being a cousin from England this time around..only about which century he's from. LOL! over a year ago

yeah! i'm glad they're setting it in the 60s, because if they set it today they could do computer background checks on Barnabas. It kinda makes sense having Barnabas as a playboy. Helena is ok, but she's missing the main ingredient over a year ago

Whoops! Should have waited to post that! According to several sources, Michael Sheen is "in talks" for a role in the film. They don't say what role he's being offered, but my guess is either Roger Collins, or Quentin Collins, or Burke Devlin.

For some reason, on the movie's IMDb page, Helena Bonham Carter is no longer listed as playing Julia Hoffman. ? Posted over a year ago

Well, Helena Bonham Carter has been talking about the role in interviews, so I wouldn't place too much faith in anything I see on imdb. It seems like a done deal from what she has said. over a year ago

Exactly. Imdb isn't always accurate. Remember the Kirsten van Wagner as Vicki posting? over a year ago

IMDb isn't always acurate. I remember she said she'll probably do it. I have yet to see any articles about her pulling out of the film. It could be a mistake. Then again, she doesn't have to do it if she doesn't want to. I guess we'll have to wait and see. For now I'm taking it with a big grain of salt. over a year ago

In this article, Eva Green talks about playing Angelique in the new DS film. Kinda has me worried, she's the third person who called the script "funny", but I'm gonna give it the BOTD.

There have been so many "very funny" comments about the script that it makes one wonder if old series fans should brace themselves for a satire or spoof. Something along the lines of "Young Frankenstrein", perhaps? over a year ago

It could be a satire or spoof. I have read some of Seth Grahame-Smith's work, and he does have a dry sense of humor. But in an interveiw, he stated that they're making Barnabas "funny". I dont know - i'm giving it the BOTD. over a year ago
