I really respect Disney for taking on this project, and even more for doing it so wonderfully. I can't really think of any other mainstream media company example that's tackled prejudice themes so thoroughly and so well (although a few lesser known and indie companies have succeeded). It's such a risky topic, but they covered so many aspects of it, like how people can change over time and become less prejudiced if they put their mind to it (meaning you don't have to be the bad guy forever), the way Judy was the anti-shallow one and still managed to slip up later in the movie (showing how having the right mindset doesn't stop you from making mistakes once in a while), how Nick's bad experiences caused him to live up to stereotypes despite him not wanting to, how he overcame all of that, and the rights and wrongs of fighting oppression (e.g. Judy's attempts to challenge assumptions vs. Bellwether's attempts to fight fire with fire). It was such a refreshing movie to watch, and such a brave thing for the world's most famous media company to do.
