*Several weeks later*
“I'm very proud of your training. You've come a long way. Now for the ultimate test.”
Becca turned away from her crew to look at the computer screen. She pulled up several files.
“This is Cheshire. She normally works for the League of Shadows. You know this. But what you don't know is that Cheshire has recently been approached by a buisness man. A very rich buisness man. She has stolen a rare artifact that was meant to head out to England. I wasn't sure why she wanted it but I did some research and I found something very interesting. This artifact is Roman. But what makes it unique are the strange powers it's said to have. This artifact is known as the Gods' Voice. Apparently, when you speak the incantation engraved on it, you get the powers of the Roman gods. But you have to be doing it during a new moon. Which is tonight.”
“So what's the mission?” Billy asked.
“I want half of you to follow Cheshire. The other half is to be watching her contact. I've already assigned you guys locations. Morgan, Alder, and Alexis will be watching and following Cheshire's contact. Billy, Tanner, and Beck will be following Cheshire. I want Morgan to link you guys up telepathically. I'm also giving you com links. I'll be able to talk to you if you need help. And I've also taken the liberty of providing you guys with a ride.”
Becca smiled as their faces lit up and she handed them each a set of keys.
“Those are for your motorcycles, which you will use now. I want you all to be fully charged so to speak in case of a fight. No running, no flying, nothing. Motorcycles only. Call me if you need me. The com links are on your bikes. Go.”
“When do you think she'll stop running?” Speed asked, looking up at Cheshire.
“Who knows? At least we can follow her,” Falcon answered.
“She's going too fast,” Ares muttered. “She's going to fall.”
“How do you-”
Speed was cut off as they watched Cheshire fall down, off the one story building. Falcon and Speed gave Ares high fives as they continued to follow her. Becca's voice came over their com links.
“Do not pursue! She knows you're following her! Stay back!”
“You worry too much Becca,” Speed said.
He got off his bike, running to where Cheshire had fallen.
“Speed don't!”
A sudden explosive blast caused all three heroes to be flung backwards. Ares looked around. The bikes were okay, just scratched. Falcon seemed fine and Speed...Where was Speed?
“Speed! Answer me!” Becca said frantically.
Ares found the fallen speedster and went over to him. He quickly checked the vital signs before responding.
“He's okay Becca. Just knocked out.”
“Come back to the base. Now! I'm going to tell the others.”
Ares picked Speed up with no problem. He turned and saw that Falcon was standing up. He went over to him and shook his head.
“Becca wants us back at the base right away,” he informed.
“This is not good,” Falcon muttered.
Becca took her headset off, closing her eyes. She sighed heavily.
“That wasn't your fault,” Melody said.
“Huh?”
“What happened wasn't your fault. They didn't follow orders.”
“I know. And I'm going to kill them. I'll be in the dance studio. Call me when they come back.”
