The Launch
A Collaboration Fanfic by

The Russian was fully prepared for what was about to begin. For the chaos that would be caused by the single flip of a switch. Decades of preparation had led up to this moment. His moment. Their moment. He could not put into words how ready he was to watch the world burn. Nobody would stop them. Could stop them. Not even the glorious Dark Knight himself.

"Sir, we are ready," he turned to his followers. His fellow men.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he began, his voice carrying through out the large room. "We are gathered today to make history! To take back what is ours! To wrong the right that has been done!" The Russian took a moment to survey the room, to take in his masterpiece. "Are you ready?" he said quietly. Then louder, "Are you-"

The sky-light of the observatory exploded inward. Hundred of shards of glass rained down on the gathered crowd. Some screamed, others yelled, all shied away from the hole that allowed the cool air of the night to seep in.

Silence fell as two figures, completely clothed in black, grappled down from the hole, their boots not making a sound on the tile. One drew her knives, the other, taller than his companion drew his swords.

"Hello, lunatics," the knife wielder said in fluent Russian.

"If you're looking for Revenge," the swordsman said, "you've got the right guy."

"STOP THEM!!!" the Russian yelled. Immediately, everyone in the room grabbed a loaded machine gun and fired. The swordsman ducked behind a crate and glanced at his partner.

"Manuver Five?" he asked.

"You got it, Double R." his partner replied.

The male groaned, but leapt out, folding up his swords and placing them on the back of his utility belt. He grabbed his partner and tossed her over the crowd. She dropped gas bombs and the crowd was enshrouded in smoke, coughing and firing wildly while the two heroes escaped.

The Russian had fled from the room. Not because he was a coward, but because he decided to rush his plans.

Reaching to the very back of his utility belt, Red Revenge pulled out his swords, which unfolded automatically. He and SilverWings continued running down the hall.

"Where is he going?" Silver asked as they chased the Russian down the corridor.

"To his escape, probably," her partner guessed. Their gait never faltered as they followed their target around a turn. He ran through a set of double doors and the pair followed without hesitation.

The Russian grinned wickedly at them. "Too late, heros," he said. "I have already won."

Red Revenge lunged at the mad-man, shoving him against the wall and holding him by his collar. "We know your plans. International police will have this whole place surrounded, and you and your followers will spend the rest of your lives in a cushy room in strait-jackets. So who wins?"

The Russian only smiled, "Me." Revenge glared at the cocky man.
"Uh, Double R." He dropped the lunatic and turned to see his partner staring out one of the observatory's large windows. The vigilant came to stand by Silver and saw the cause for her uncertainty.

The window gave a clear view to a landing port. Inside, a large rocket. On its side was the emblem for hazardous nuclear radioactivity.

"Launch in T-minus 2 minutes," an automated voice announced through a loud speaker.

"I hate count-downs," Silver muttered.

The Russian stood up and rubbed his throat. "Wow. What a turn of events! And Im the only one with the authorization codes to shut it down."
"Tell me." Revenge growled, pinning the man to the wall.

"Oh right. Thats gonna work. Do you do this to you mother when she won't give you cookies and your bottle of milk?"

Revenge punched the man in the face.

"Oh, fine!" he said. "Alpha Omega Six!"

Revenge typed it in and nothing happened.

"The three buttons: one detonates the rocket, one launches it immediately, one stops the launch. Your choice."

"Double R? Thirty seconds and the world goes boom!" Silver said beside him.

Revenge looked carefully at the buttons.

"Ten seconds! Do something!"

Thoughts raced through Revenge's mind.

"Three-" Revenge slammed the green button.

"Countdown halted."

"YES!" Silver shouted. Revenge cringed at the loud noise in his ear.

"Immediate Launch in Five Seconds."

"What?!" Silver shouted.

"If I go deaf from you, and we survive this," Revenge said, breaking the glass to the observatory. "I'm gonna kill you."

Revenge brought his grappling gun up to bear, but Silver jerked his hand down.

"Are you an idiot?!" she yelled. "You fire that into a nuclear rocket, you'll blow us all to smithereens!"

"Its our only shot!" Revenge replied. "Now hang on!"

He grabbed Silver by the waist and fired his grappling gun as the rocket's engines fired up. They landed on the rocket as it propelled out of the bay.
"Too late, heroes." the Russian said, standing up and starting towards the door. He stopped when he heard a whine. Looking down, he saw daggers planted in the floor with lasers interconnecting them. He was standing in the middle of a laser.

Revenge saw the explosion from the top of the rocket. He was still holding onto Silver while she slipped on her magnetic boots and gloves.

"So what's the plan, Sherlock?" Silver said, sarcasm disguising her panic as the rocket raced on.

"I thought Watson always came up with the plans," Red Revenge responded, tightening his grip on his partner slightly.

"You don't have a plan," Silver stated, keeping the frustration from her voice. "We need to redirect the missiles path to a place it cannot harm the poplation.

"And how do we do that?"

"Manually." Revenge stared at his partner for such an absurd solution.

"And you know how to fly a rocket?" he asked. SilverWings thought it over, their precious time running out as the rocket neared its destination.

"No," she said slowly, "but I may be able to shut it down."

"And how do we do that?"

"We need to find the control panel." They both looked up and down the rocket.

"There," Red Revenge said, indicating the square opening. Carefully, the two inched their ways to the panel, and Revenge managed to open the top, revealing a mess of wires inside.

Silver immediately went to work, cutting wires with procission.

"Silver," Revenge yelled, looking passes the rocket to its target, which was slowing coming into view, "now would be a good time to hurry."

"I'm almost done," she yelled back, slicing another wire with her hidden blade.

"No pressure, but I think this baby's headed for a nuclear power plant." Silver glanced up from the web of wires. Sure enough, the towers of a power plant was now visible. It was heading toward then quickly.

Silver returned to the wires, bisecting them as fast as she could without making a mistake.

"We have about ten seconds," Revenge warned. "Nine, eight, seven."

Making a split decision, SilverWings grabed hold of the remaining wires and sawed through them with her blade.

"Three, two, one." Silver shut her eyes tightly, waiting for the missile to shut down.

Suddenly, everything went silent.

The two felt the impact. The missile crashed into the ground, skidding aloneg the dirt, etching a massive scar into the face of the Earth. Silver desperately grabbed anything she could reach, but the jarring of the missile made her loose her grip and she felt herself falling.

Revenge, hanging on by one hand, reached for his grappling gun and fired it at Silver. It seemed to be the only sound audible. Silver felt it wrap around her waist. Revenge wrapped the tool to a handle on the rocket before the sweat on his hands caused him to slip.

Silver called her partner's name. She did until the rocket stopped and she hopped off.

Revenge was laying on the ground a few hundred feet away. By the time Silver reached him, a contingent of Justice Leaguers had arrived and Revenge was groaning about stupid girls costing him his life.

"Idiot," Silver said.

"It was you or me," Revenge said. "Besides, I have full impact armor. Although that did hurt..."

"Good job you two," Batman said. "We underestimated the threat, but you two managed to improvise and save the eastern half of the world."

"Maybe we can schedule another mission for you two sometime." Nightwing added.

Silver beamed while Revenge brushed himself off.

I sat in my spot on the bio ship and relaxed. My arm felt numb from pain and I was super tired. I closed my eyes, only wanting to sleep for five minutes. I opened my eyes at 3:00 in the after noon. I had slept for two hours. I looked out the window and saw Mount Justice quickly approaching in the distance. I looked at my arm. Megan’s cape was now reddish purple instead of blue. I pulled it off and looked at the wound. I was lucky. The javelin didn’t go all the way through and it was off center. If it was centered and went all the way through, I would have a broken arm and a huge gash. I...

Night began to fall, street lights lit up and five shadows hid behind the walls of...
"A church?" Wally whispered a chocolate bar in his mouth. Artemis nudged him. Robin nodded.
"Makes sense. Why would an evil villain go to a church?" The teenagers crept carefully to the entrance of the church. "Locked!" Robin struggled with the locks. "I could probably pick the locks-"
"Don't worry about that!" Conner stepped up to the doors and pulled it apart.
"Or he can just do that" Robin put his lock picker devise back in his utility belt and followed the others into the pitch black room.
It felt like hours...
