Amelia
So I waited and waited. And a day turned into weeks and a week turned into a month. And no one ever came. I should have known my family would leave me. I wasn't a prodigy. I was a failure. I couldn't do things perfectly like my family wanted. My mom had told me everything was alright. but it wasn't. I had a big brother.
He wrote sometimes. But never came. I guess I got a little bitter. A 1o year old in a place were the bad people go. I was a victim. The place wasn't very well guarded. I wasn't surprised. It wasn't like the big criminals went here. So I grew up. When I turned 11 6 months after my parent's deaths they sent me to an orphanage.
And i was the freak there to. I wasn't cute and harmless anymore. People who met me said they would think about it. Yeah think about how weird I was. So i spent most of the time in MY personal jail cell. I got into fights with the other kids. And I was always at blame. I didn't care at all really.
Once I got bored. I left the orphanage and went looking for trouble. It's what i did best. Someone called the cops because of the fight. Gordon was there. I got into a lot of fights. It's all about survival no matter where you go.
After my 13th birthday everything changed. For better or worse. My per motion hungry case worker said I was being adopted. Adopted? I had shrugged. 3 weeks passed before i was actually going to my home.
I had brushed my hair and packed my duffel bag. My case worker scoffed at my cloths. A thick strapped white tank outlined with black. A shirt that showed my shoulders and belly button was black with argyle in the middle. 2 necklaces. Black skinny jeans. A black hooide and hat. And grey sneakers.
Yeah I was head to to in black. Literally I had black hair and storm grey eyes. Janean brought me to her yellow bug. And I through my bag on the floor and climbed into the front. As we drove away from the orphanage I glared at the bright sun.
"You could try" she flipped her perfect blonde hair behind her. "Why should I?" I snapped. "Because you can't live in the orphanage forever" she answered. "I don't care" I twitched. She slowed at a red light. "Amelia! Stop doing this to everyone around you and yourself!" she yelled. I didn't answer. "I don't have to listen to you" I growled. "Amelia I get it. You've been lied to for most of your life your still sour about what happened" she paused.
For those who are confused let me explain. My real parents were killed in a foreign country when they were on vacation 11 months after I was born. Asses. I was adopted by a couple and they were murdered by Joker because my 'father' quite working for him when I was adopted. Why he waited 10 years I don't know.
So know 3 years after that tragic murdering I learned the truth. I took it well. As we pulled up to the mansion. Seriously who is this guy! "So uh who is this guy" I asked biting my lip. "Bruce Wayne" she unbuckled her seat belt. Crap. Bruce Wayne is adopting me?
Most kids would scream in joy. I am not. I clutched my hoodie tighter as I grabbed my bag and fallowed her to the door. And it was answered. "Hello I am guessing your Miss Tor?" he was looking at me. "It's Amelia" I snapped.
"Come in" he gestured. Janean smiled and grabbed my hand and dragged me in. I glared at her a sick feeling bubbling in my stomach. "Thank you Alfred" she smiled flipping her blonde hair back again. He grip tightened painfully. "Thanks" I snapped.
"Is Mr.Wayne home?" she asked that stupid smile on her face. I rolled my eyes and she frowned at me. "Manners!" she hissed in my ear. "Manners!" I mocked. "Your impossible!" she hissed. Alfred raised an eyebrow. "So are you!" I snapped loudly. "Don't you dare that tone" she growled. "what are you going to do about it!?" I challenged.
Her grip on my wrist tightened. "Behave" she growled. "Make.Me" I smirked (GASP!). "Yes Master Bruce is here" he started to walk away and I was dragged after Janean. We entered a study were a guy with black hair and brown eyes was on the phone. He finished and hung up and then turned to us.
"Hello" he sat in an office chair. "This is Amelia Tor" Janean smiled. I whirled on her. "Amelia! It's just Amelia!" I yanked my wrist away from her. "Amelia!" she hissed quietly. "I'm sorry Mr. Wayne-" she was cut off much to my delight. "It's fine" he waved it off.
I pressed my lips into a thin line and narrowed my eyes. Was this guy trying to convince me he was on my side? yeah good luck with that Wayne good luck. So Janean had him sign some papers and she went over my history and personality and my 'problems'. Finally I got annoyed and yanked on her hair. "What!" she turned around. "Uh can you go?" I said dead pained.
"Behave for me. Please" she said softly. I scoffed and pulled my bag up. "whatever" I sighed. I watched her leave the guy Janean called Alfred trailing after her. I turned back to Bruce Wayne. Alfred returned and beckoned me to fallow him. I did letting my anger cloud my mind as we walked. He opened the door to my room and left.
I sighed and flopped onto my bed watching my chest rise with every breath. I walked over to the laptop on the desk I started surfing the web. Settling on some movie I leaned back in the chair.
it was pretty UN-eventful in the house. I wandered around and read books. I avoided Bruce and Alfred as much as possible. I found a room with boy's clothing strewn about but they were to small and to much of a teenage boy style to be Bruce's.
I found the gym and spent most of my time in there. It was kind of fun to be able to do the exercise. I was swinging back and forth on the bar when a boy walked in. He had blue eyes and black hair. Was he Bruce's kid? He noticed me and smiled. Yeah deferentially Bruce's kid.
"Hi there" he walked up. I pulled myself on top of the bar sitting on it and looking down throwing my pony tail behind me. "hi" I whispered. "You Amelia?" he smirked. "Who wanted to know?" I smirked (GASPS). "Me" he swung up like it was nothing. "Dick Grayson" he held his hand out. I looked at it but didn't shake it.
"What do you want?" I growled. "Nothing" he smirked. I glared and hopped down from the bar. Stupid boy. I walked to my room and turned on the shower. When it was warm I stepped in. I let the water run the sweat off before I changed into my pajamas.
Th next day sucked. And all because of school. My teachers kept doubting that I knew anything and there were at least 4 people I wanted to punch in the face. I opened my locker and dug for my history book. I heard crying. I fallowed it and found my self standing in front of a boy. His jacket was shed and the red tie was loosened. End result his uniform was messed up.
He looked up his eyes glazed with tears. My anger spiked and I narrowed my eyes. He coward ed away. I kicked him in the gut with my converse. "Toughen up" I snarled before walking away. I later saw the boy asking a girl something. She smiled and nodded and kissed him on the cheek.
At lunch he sat by me. I was outside sitting against the wall. "Hey!" he smiled. I ignored him biting into my sand witch. I chewed slowly on it. "Uh thanks" he rubbed his head. I rolled my eyes again ignoring him. "Cause like now I had the guts to ask this girl out and stuff and I just wanted to thank you for that" he dug into his bag fishing out his own sand witch.
Would he go away on his own? No? Plan B. I didn't look at him. "Go away" I growled. "Nah" he shrugged. "Seriously I don't want your company" I snarled. "Don't you want friends?" he asked. "no" I replied. "Well-" he was cut off. "Shut up" I spoke. He huffed. "My name is Zack what's yours?" he asked. "Amelia" I said while standing up.
before I left I looked down at him. "It's all about survival Zack so stop bugging me" and then I walked away. People at this school were not nice. Like these people who had my cornered. "Alright new girl were gonna make sure you learn that your and under dog" they laughed as they closed in. I pressed my lips toghter and blocked their hits.
I lashed out knocking them off their feet and running. I couldn't afford to get into a fight here. They knew this turf. If I could just lead them to a secluded area. I turned to see. they were fallowing me like dogs after a bone. Cutting into an alley I paused and turned. An all out brawl happened. Dick must have seen me fighting and called the cops.
Good thing because I was pinned against the wall flailing. Alfred drove me and Dick home. And Bruce was not happy. So after a long lecture I went to bed. I woke up around midnight and went to the den area. I leaned against the wall and my hand caught something that puled down.
I jumped awake as the clock moved to show a door way. I used the elevator and blinked in shock. "Batman and Robin" I breathed. Bruce and Dick were batman and Robin. Why didn't I feel surprised. I smiled a little (screams in the distance) time to kick ass.
