Chapter Fourteen-
Sam's leg was in a temporary cast as he pulled his mask off and shoved it in his backpack to take home.
He was just about to limp off when the theatre glowed. He looked up to see Holly storming out.
"Whoah!" he said, catching her arm. "Where've you been?"
"Germany." Holly spat.
"What happened?" Sam asked, ignoring the place she had been.
"Those no good, low pieces of scum sent me over there to 'kill Luthor' but rigged it so I couldn't. The test was to see if I would actually kill or not. And get this:" she added. "Artemis knew and didn't say anything!"
Holly shook his hand off of her arm and stormed off.
Sam sighed and pulled his mask out of his bag.

"Recognized, Green Arrow. Artemis. Superman." the computer rang out. No sooner had the trio gone when the computer rang out another voice.
"Recognized. Red Revenge. B-13."
Batman turned to see the Black Hero storming out of the zeta tube with a cast on his leg.
"What hap-"
"Cut it!" Revenge said. "How dare you, how dare you send Holly on a mission like that?"
"It was better than our virtual training program." Batman began, but Revenge cut him off again.
"That is no excuse. What if Artemis hadn't fixed the gun to not shoot?"
"How did you-?"
"Same system as the Watchtower." Revenge said. "Besides the point. My point is, you have deeply hurt her. I understand you have a grudge against her and I can understand. But that is no excuse to treat her like this!"
"Listen!"
"No, you listen!"
"Shut up!"
Revenge's fist flew toward the Dark Knight's face. Batman barely caught it. Revenge sent in a chop block, which Batman caught, but used his other leg to manipulate the Dark Knight's and throw him into the wall."
"Don't. Treat her. Like that. Again." Revenge said. "Or you will regret it in more ways than one, Bruce."
Revenge backed off and limped off to the zeta-tube.
"Recognized. Red Revenge. B-13."
"And I'm serious." Revenge added before he was teleported to Gotham City.

It took half a second for Artemis to recognize the voice.
"Hey, blondie."
"Oh not at school." she groaned.
Some boy who went there walked up to the trespasser and looked him in the face.
"Do I know you?" he asked.
"Out of the way, Rob." the teen said. "I've got a meeting with Artemis."
"Ah, okay. So I'm just going to go over here and conceal my secret identity." Richard said, and shrunk over to the bench.
"When and where?" Artemis groaned when Sam reached her.
Luckily the courtyard was mostly empty, but most classes would be dismissed soon, and the last thing Artemis wanted was to make an even bigger fool of herself.
"Here and now." the obviously infuriated teenager said.
"How about outside the gates in ten minutes?" Artemis pleaded.
Sam gave her a look.
"Five minutes?"
"I'll be waiting."

"Artemis said she was sorry and would make it up anyway she could." Sam said, tossing his jacket on the couch.
"How come I have a feeling you had something to do with this?" Holly asked.
"Me?" Sam said, feigning innocence. "Why would I have anything to do with this?"
Holly grinned and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Because I know you." she said.
Sam grinned.
"Okay, enough with the mushy wushy." Sarah said, walking out of the elevator.
"As I recall, you werent saying that eight months-"
"Can it dagger boy." Sarah said, walking into the computer lab.
"That's the best you got?" Sam called after her.
Holly laughed.
"So did anything interesting happen today?" Sam asked.
"No," Holly replied. "Except I still can't get a conformation on this object."
"What object?" Sam asked.
"It saved Artemis's butt overseas, but I haven't been able to get a positive idea on who's it could be. Can you check this?" Holly asked, handing him the V-object.
Sam looked momentarily surprised, but nodded and walked off toward the computer lab, locking the door behind him.
"What's up?" Sarah asked, turning around.
Sam tossed the object on the desk.
"Where'd you get this?" she asked.
"Holly said it saved Artemis in Germany." Sam said.
"Germany?" Sarah asked.

Revenge slid his mask off and slipped on a pair of jeans and a jacket. He slipped his mask and his cape inside his jacket and walked out into the crowd.
He managed to find Holly quite easily. She was waiting for him at the back of the crowd.
"Little crowded." Sam said humorously.
Holly laughed at his joke and slipped her hand into his.
"About time you got here." she said, nudging him playfully.
"Had some business I needed to take care of." Sam said, growing serious. When Holly looked at him inquiringly, he shook his head and pointed at the ball drop where the time was slowly ticking down.
"Want to get to a better position?" he asked.
"I can see fine." she said.
The crowd began to count down with the clock.
"Ten! Nine! Eight!..." when they reached zero, the crowd erupted in cheers. The band started playing and everyone went crazy. Noise erupted in Times Square.
But Holly simply brushed her lips against Sam's, and Sam back.

Holly snuck inside her house later that morning. She was exhausted from the party, and having to stop that bank robbery. Could she not get peace one night a year?
Holly snuck inside her room and closed the door quietly. She slipped into her pajamas, hanging her uniform up.
Heading to the laptop she flipped it open and typed her password. She found and unplugged Revenge's data tracker. Opening an application, she typed a few more things on the computer.
A disguised voice answered her Skype call.
"Yes?" it asked.
"Do the job." Holly said before hanging up.
Holly plugged Revenge's data tracker back in and covered her tracks with a mess of web searches.

Revenge or Redemption
"This Way!" Revenge yelled.
I followed, ducking into a closet. My yellow/black cape swished behind me and exposed where we were.
"Tam! Ogan'!" a voice yelled.
The Russians brought their guns to bear on the wooden door and fired. Revenge leaped in front of me, taking the shock and damage of the bullets. But fifteen AK-47s firing into his chest managed to knock him out.
The Russians busted open the door and knocked me down with a rifle to the head. One pointed his gun at me.
"Ostan'sya vnizu malen'kaya devochka!" he yelled.
I struggled to think, the blow to my head had me in a daze.
"C'mon Barbara! Think! You're in Russia! Batman taught you this much."
After a bit of thinking, I managed to translate it into 'Stay down little girl'.
The next time they said something, it was easier to translate.
"Voz'mite ikh s losifom!"
Translation: Take them to Joseph.

“You failed me Slade.”
“I know master. But she is stronger than we first expected.”
“Yes. I know. I expected as much from her. But we now have her in a dangerous position.”
“Master?”
“Shade must make her choice. She has followed the Light for seventy years. Now, she must choose whether she is willing to risk everything or to continue to play hero.”
“And if she chooses hero?”
“She won't.”
“But Master-”
“Shade thinks she is in the clear. But I have one last trick up my sleeve.”
Epilouge:
