Wind howled outside, shaking the shutters. Hailey fought the urge to reach for her soft silk robe. She wore a bright yellow dress, a proud color of the family she represented tonight. Not even the threat of cold could convince her to appear any less finessed.
The woman’s reveries was broken by the arrival of her visitors. She stood politely as the entourage of diplomats entered and bowed deeply. “Konichiwa, Your Highness.”
The Crown Prince of Japan returned a shallower bow. He was younger than Hailey had expected. “Your rebel king has chosen not to join us?” he asked with barely hidden disappointment. Hailey cleared her throat to hide her laugh. She too had once been enamored by the romantic idea of a young king fighting for good against an evil power, like something out of an old story. Maybe she still was.
“My liege will be joining us shortly,” she answered. “He asked that you all make yourselves comfortable until he arrives. My name is Hailey. I’m an honored ward and sworn emissary of House Romanov.”
The Crown Prince raised a brow, curiosity overtaking his handsome features. She knew the looks: a ward to the king made her an heir, second only to his sister, unless he named Hailey his immediate successor. Her, a half-breed human-vampire, raised in a brothel by her prostitute mother in absence of her pure blood father. The subject made her skin raise with goosebumps in both fear and excitement. Her place in House Romanov had come only recently, and she had agreed to it eagerly for the opportunities it offered far beyond her previous occupation as a prostitute and secret informant.
“Lady Hailey,” the Prince spoke over his surprise with new respect, “Please, call me Prince Akio. This is my closest advisor, Himura, and this is the son to my trade minister, Tagomi. Our guards chose to wait outside.” The other men bowed to Hailey as lowly as she had greeted them, a show of equality that made her blush.
“It’s an honor to make your acquaintances. Please, have a seat. We don’t have to wait for Prince Alexander to get comfortable.” Hailey took a seat at the small, round table. The intimate setting had been another one of her teacher’s ideas. As was the maid and server who come into the room right on cue with saki and appetizers. This meeting was all about rekindling an old relationship.
“I’ve heard his succession is much up for debate,” Prince Aiko remarked, straight to the point.
“Oh yes, to be king or not? But he is undoubtedly his father’s son, is he not?”
The prince’s advisor, Himura, spoke up. “I believe the crown prince was referring instead to the part he played in executing his sister, the late Queen Eline.”
Hailey met the advisor’s eyes calmly. She was thankful the topic was being brought up now, before Aleksander arrived. She knew how awfully the subject pained him to discuss and was happy to take that burden off his shoulders. “You knew Prince Aleksander when you were both boys, did you not, Your Highness? How would you describe him?”
“Kind,” the Crown Prince replied without having to think about it, “Quiet, calm. He was the only boy at that terrible hospital on Sakhalin that I got along with. He was smarter and cleverer than me, and I liked that a lot. A good listener, and a quick learner. I taught him every word I knew in Japanese in the short year we knew each other, though I’m afraid I could never get a hang of his harsh native Russian.”

Hailey smiled at the thought of ten-year-old Aleksander asking the slightly elder prince endless questions about Japanese and everything related. “Trust you me, he hasn’t changed even a bit. My prince is all those things now. You will be able to determine for yourself once he arrives that Aleksander committed the act against his family reluctantly and carries a heavy heart over the matter.”
The Crown Prince relaxed back in his seat, satisfied with this answer. He raised his cup to his lips, but his advisor set a cautious hand on his prince’s arm. “Excuse me, Your Highness, but I was wondering why Lady Hailey had yet to touch her sake.”
All eyes went to her, and the young woman returned them with a blush. She had hoped they would drink and be merry without noting her abstinence. “I’m afraid I don’t drink.”
“But you did when you accompanied your liege at the ball in Monaco two months ago,” the son of the trade minister noted, “and at the dinner in Shanghai the weekend after.” Hailey blinked at the recollection. She had not recognized the young man, really just a boy, from either of the events he had mentioned. But perhaps the Japanese were keeping a closer eye on the future leader of the Eastern supernaturals than she realized.
The young woman released a long sigh of defeat. “You’ve got me there, gentlemen. I’m impressed your powers of observation.”
The men on either side of the Crown Prince shifted uncomfortably. But the future King of Japan watched her calmly, expectant of her answer. If she wasn’t drinking because their drinks were laced with poison, she would be dead by a bullet from his advisor’s gun in two seconds or less. But that wasn’t her reason.
“I didn’t want to have to reveal this to you,” she answered slowly, feeling the suspense in the room growing. “But I’m afraid I’m not able to indulge in the sake...because I recently found out that I’m with child.”
The men stared at her in surprise, saying nothing. Their eyes travelled from her face, to her stomach--absent of any evidence of a baby so early in her pregnancy--and back to her blushing face. "It's not Prince Aleksander's," she added to break the tension. The Prince laughed at the idea, "But such a romantic thing that would have been. But I'm sure a child with genes from both Alek and yourself would be too feisty for the world to handle." Hailey giggled at the idea, the tension from her confession leaving her body.
The young woman blushed as the son of the trade minister raised his glass. "A toast to your child, a symbol of continuous hope for our long futures together."
Hailey's eye widened as the men clinked glasses and drank, though the prince's advisor was slower to take a sip.
"Does that mean you'll support Aleksander in his position against Wilhelm Magnus and the other opposers?" she asked with disbelief.
"Of course," the Prince Akio replied. "He was a good friend to me in my time of need when we were youths, and anyone who commands you to their side surely has a good head on his shoulders. I will, of course, like to speak with him myself before committing to anything."
"I'm sure he would like that very much," Hailey agreed quickly. She smiled at a knock on the front door. "That should be him now, I think."
“Shouldn’t our gaurds have escorted him in?” the prince’s advisor asked, a suspicious glance going to Hailey for the second time that night. The woman faltered, then jumped as the front door was kicked open in an explosion if splinters.

My name is Evelyn Veronica Isabelle Lang. I’m 13 with black hair and grey-blue eyes. I have special powers like my mom does. She is really strong, really pretty, she can fly and she has special bracelets that deflect things. My dad has no powers, but he’s really cool. He is really smart, makes his own little gadgets and is a skilled fighter. When I was little, they disappeared. I felt like they abandoned me, so I changed my name from Veronica Wayne to Evelyn Veronica Isabelle Lang. Or Evil. I’m a street kid now, but I’ve always held my own. I’m a really great fighter, I’m really...

((Kurls, if you read this I didn't realize you had an OC called Serenity ;-; So I'm sorry about that... Cause it just happens to be Blade's middle name Dx I'm sows!!))

I took Damian's hand and he lead me back into the mansion, the lonely idle building in the middle of a forest. His touch was cold, but comforting as he pulled me in, locking the grand doors behind him. The thought of being stuck here still didn't stomach well and I'd give anything to be some place else. Unfortunately, for me, my apartment was taken, by a wonderful passionate couple in love, it was sickening. So my last resort...

Kaya punched Martina to the ground, then walked up to her grabbed her neckline and head-butted her blocking Martina out.
“Sorry you can yell at me later.” Frostbite said, hoisting her in the air by control her body. Frostbite clenched her fist proceeding down the direction she was head for before being. She walked through the halls unrushed; she came to an intersection when, to her surprise, Lelisa, Honesty and others were rushing towards her. They halt and Lelisa eyes widen, at that Snowflake appeared in the hall on they left.

"Its not like you haven't done this before, right?"
"Go on Cad, just like old times."
"No one is gonna tell you you can't."

"No Cadmus, you promised."
"You said you'd stop this."
"You know its wrong you cant do this!"

Her finger itched at the trigger, staring intensely at the man she held captive. He was a no one. Just someone who was worth a lot of money. She sighed in frustration. The fight was almost unbearable.

"Nyet! I can't do it!" she snapped, but she didn't put down the gun.

A large hand was placed on her shoulder and a deep voice snarled in her ear, "I...

In the tundra, she could see her own breath. It escaped like a faint cloud from her nostrils and floated upwards a few centimeters before disappearing into the pine needles. This high up, those tendrils of breath would be unnoticeable to anyone far below. Below, the crouching snow-covered bushes remained still and silent. No visible clouds escaped them.
An approaching roar drew her attention over the forest floor as a black jeep emerged from the forest. It barreled through undergrowth, breaking through the freshly fallen snow, leaving behind deep tire treads and the reek of diesel. It would...

Hey guys, it’s R_L, obviously. I just wanted to do something I should have done a long long time ago. I’m not leaving, if that’s what you think. But this is just as important.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry to all the people I’ve been mean to, the ones I’ve pushed so far away that they don’t come back. I’m sorry that I was such a toxic person. I shouldn’t have been and if ever you were hurt because of ANYTHING I did, I’m truly, deeply, unbelievably sorry. I’m not leaving or anything like that, just apologizing for being such a toxic person. I was still growing and learning. That’s...

Eldrin shrugged off the heavy coat, pulling his long white away from his face. He looked down at the white marble tiles, and to the guard standing at his left. The elf pulled the blades from their sheathes and dropped them to the floor, glaring at the guard. He huffed and kicked them over before he started to head down the long hall. It didn’t take long for Eldrin to hear the distance chattering of the council, girl’s laughter filling the corridor. He sighed at the thought of having to deal with the girls but pushed forward out into the open room. He immediately locked eyes with his own...

Callie leaned on one hand, her blue eyes sweeping around the school cafeteria. A sigh came from her ruby red-tinted lips at finding who she was looking for. Jaime then leaned over her shoulder, his eyes directed in the same way as hers. He smirked and dropped the tray of food beside her, causing Callie to nearly jump out of her skin. "Take a picture, it lasts longer~ " He grinned, chuckling at the glare he was given. "Why do you insist on torturing me?" She asked with a pout, batting her long eyelashes. "I must carry on tradition." Jaime replied with a grin, opening the milk carton that sat...

There was a dull roar in his ears, what he knew immediately to be applause. Yet when Callaghan blinked his eyes up at the blinding fluorescent lights, he thought himself to at first be alone. There was a heaviness to his body that set him into a momentary panic. But the smell of disinfectant and cotton blanket beneath his fingertips explained the circumstances to him.

Turning his head allowed the young warlock to find a man apparently twice his age sitting in a chair in front of the television, watching a black-and-white film of an ice skater. The whirling athlete on screen was a young teenager,...

Belle Reve
Belle Reve
She looked up at the large building ahead, the sun beating down on her. It was a thick wall, gray and made like a battlement of a castle's wall. There was a long way to a heavily guarded gate. The humid winds blew around her in the marshy land. She looked around for a minute, the boy still standing next to her with something of a content look on his face.
“I may not remember much, but I'm fairly certain I wasn't born in Belle Reve...”
He smiled again, that ever vague smile of the Cheshire cat.
“There's a lot for you to remember, kitten. Let's get started.”
He walked to the gate, pulling...

She stood in silence, letting the view take over her instincts. It was time. Everything was falling into place, just as predicted. She let out a heavy, shaky sigh. This was it....this was the last time. The sun was a needle in her side, portraying emotions she didn't feel. She looked at the sword tied to her waist. How she would have loved to not have this burden...but she'd fought so hard her whole life...she couldn't fight anymore. If this was what happened, she would do it. Not because of her life, but the lives of others. She had so many to protect now. And it was time to take her place,...

The halls are silent the further I walked down the hall. The remains of my home were large, but you could feel the snow-brought air through the gaps. The little minx; ruined everything with little more than a lie and a hoax. I got to the main room and survey the damage. Wall hangings faded or torn, chairs toppled over, scattered remains of that fateful night so long ago. And my one prize possession, a trinket from my long dead love, shattered...

Within a few minutes, she stood ankle deep in a pond, looking up at the small waterfall. Alex waded over and pulled herself up onto a rock, shimmying her way behind the wall of water. She pulled her hair into a high ponytail, staring at the metal door and keypad in front of her....
