This was the WORST day of my life...
BIrdo kissed my butt in front of the whole class during my presentation. I said to myself "that's it Birdo, no more mister nice Yoshi". so at lunch time Birdo was planning to take me to the playground but i didn't want to go there. that was when i had my chance, I fell over a rock and that was stupid but i fell on top of birdo. "I HATE YOU!" i said right in her face and walked away..... so the next day I saw birdo wearing boxing gloves. She jumped at me and was about to throw a punch when.... i dodged her lame attack.

This is my 100% answer: girl, but was NEVER a boy.
the fact is Birdo wasn't so good being a boy in the first few Mario games. So, the creators cut him out, But came back with the name Birdo I say Birdo (old one) was Birdo's (now's one) Dad her dad must have wanted to show the world what a dad he was, I think he's mad!
