Chapter Ten
Kyan edged toward the door. Kassie stumbled back a few steps. Kyan glared at her, his eyes glinting dangerously.
“ You don’t remember me?” Kassie whispered.
“ No. Do I have a reason to?” Kyan snapped back. He was staring at her.
“ Although you are pretty good looking.” He added, his lips pulling up into a smirk. Kassie felt her face flush. She lowered her eyes, looking at Kyan though lowered lashes. He was shirtless, clad only in jeans. His defined abs rippled with every movement he made. He reached up to run a hand through his dark hair. Kassie tried not to notice as his bicep bunched as his arm moved. She could feel her face getting hotter.
“ Where am I?” Kyan asked, walking closer. Kassie retreated until she hit her back against the door with a thump.
“ You’re at Camp Willow. You’re going to be a junior consular. We are sharing a group of kids until you learn the ropes.” Kassie blurted.
Kyan walked closer. Kassie blinked and looked down.
“ Oh really? And why would I sign up to do something as stupid as that?” Kyan asked, coming to a stop, less than a foot away from her.
“ You didn’t actually volunteer.” Kassie explained reluctantly. Kyan was still staring at her. Not nicely at all.
“ Uh, I think we should go get someone. They will be able to explain it better than I will.” Kassie tried to duck around him. Kyan’s hand flew out and landed on the door beside her head. Kassie deftly tried to duck the other way, just to find herself in-between Kyan’s arms. He leaned against the door casually, looking as if he did this kind of thing every day. But Kassie’s heart was racing from just being this close to him. She turned, looking on either side of herself. He was pretty close. She didn’t think she would be able to duck out from underneath his arms.
“ I think you can explain things just fine.” Kyan said softly, dipping his head closer. Kassie pressed back against the door as far as she could.
Kyan chuckled. “ We had something together?”
“Excuse me?” Kassie snapped back.
Kyan was still grinning.
“ Well by the look of your blush, we had something together…But no offense, I cant remember you at all. Are you my girlfriend?”
Kassie felt her blush deepen yet again.
“ No, I’m not your girlfriend.” Kassie whispered, hurt slowly creeping into her voice.
“ You’re not? Why?” Kyan’s voice was surprised.
Kassie felt her eyes prick with tears. “ I don’t know! You never asked me!”
Kyan flinched slightly. “ Ouch. Ok. So what’s the deal? How come I was in here, hooked to an oxygen tank?”
Kassie paused, trying to think of something. If he forgot everything, why bring up a sore subject? Maybe Bryan, Tommy and Kyan could all get along.
“ You, um, slipped. And hit your head. You gave yourself a concussion, and the doctor put on an oxygen tube just to help.” Kassie made up feebly.
Kyan raised one eyebrow. “ Me? Slip?”
“ I thought you couldn’t remember anything!” Kassie exclaimed.
“ I can’t. But I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t slip.”
“ I-I don’t really know what happened exactly. I wasn’t there.” Kassie replied.
“ Well I don’t know what happened. But I do know one thing.” Kyan stared at her, his blue eyes sparking with an intensity that made Kassie squirm.
“ What’s that?”
“ I want to kiss you.” And he did.
