Chapter Two
My jaw dropped too. He looked like he just walked out of a photo shoot, he was that good looking. I figured any minute the paparazzi was going to pull in after him. Jaydon was silently hitting me on the arm, trying to get my attention. Thump. Thump. Thump. I couldn’t pull my eyes off of him to tell her I saw him too. I finally just grabbed her arm. The gorgeous guy just stood there, looking around uncertainly. Jaydon finally shut her mouth and managed to talk.
“ Go see what he wants, Chey.” She gave me a hearty shove and I stumbled up to him, barely managing not to fall. I wasn’t the most graceful person.
“ Uh, hi. Welcome to Rolling Meadows. Can I help you?” I finally managed to say. I was surprised at how calm my voice sounded compared to how I was feeling. He leveled
blue eyes on and I just about gasped. He had the bluest eyes I had ever seen. There was no shade of blue to describe them. They were like the ocean, a deep, dark color that threatened to drown me. As he continued to stare, lighter turquoise shades of blue danced through them, blending with the dark blue to form a color I couldn’t even begin to describe. They were amazing. They were framed by thick, dark, curly eye lashes and set under dark eyebrows. His dark, slightly long hair that hung down in a styled sort of way. It wasn’t curly, like spiral curls, but flipped out at the ends in a super cute way. His face was darkly tanned, which only brought out his eyes even more. He had a strong jaw and high cheekbones. He seriously looked like a model that had escaped the runway. He had a blue Fox racing tee-shirt on and worn blue jeans that were ripped in certain places, no doubt designer. He was quiet so long, I was wondering how more awkward this could get when he suddenly blinked and a slow smile started to form on his full lips.
“ I’m Trey.” He said in a deep voice that seemed to rumble through me. He held out a hand.
“ I’m Cheyenne.” I answered and slowly reached out to put my hand in his. His warm hand was strong and sturdy, and made me think of walking hand in hand. Whoa. Where did that come from? I didn’t even know him. An electric shock followed that made me stumble a step back, dropping his hand.
You.
His voice vibrated through me but his lips didn’t move. I frowned and took another step back. Dude, this guy was a creeper. A totally hott, gorgeous creeper, but a creeper none the less.
“ Uh, maybe I should go get my parents. You want to board a horse here, right? You’ll have to talk to one of them if you want to do that.” I said and started to turn around.
“ I don’t know why I’m here.” Trey’s deep voice reached my ears and I felt reluctance slow my steps until it was impossible to move.
“ What?” I turned back to him.
“ I…Can I just show you her? I think you’ll understand then.” He walked to the horse trailer and started to lower the ramp. While he was busy, I turned to Jaydon who had managed to shut her mouth, thank goodness, but was know looking at me with an ‘are you crazy’ look. I knew as well as her that no horse was supposed to be unloaded until it were improved to stay. Trey aka hott creeper, lowered the ramp with a bang and stepped back.
“ Hey, aren’t you going to go in and get-” I was cut off as a horse turned and unloaded itself from the trailer. She was completely and utterly gorgeous, just like her owner. She was a black and white paint, tall but still delicate looking. Her thick mane reached her shoulder and her tail drug the ground. But what made me stare were her eyes. They were a light blue, almost a crystal color, even lighter than mine.
(Finally. You two took long enough goggling at each other. I was about to go crazy.)
I blinked and took another step back. It was the voice I had heard earlier. There was no way a horse was talking to me. I shook my head, trying to get the craziness out of it.
(She was right. She’s perfect.) The mare turned from looking at Trey to level both eerily blue eyes at me. Trey nodded slightly. I gasped and looked from her to him. Did he hear her too.
(Of course. How else do you think I got him to drive me here?) The mare continued, her voice ( or whatever it was ) sounding amused.
“ You can come inside.” I finally stuttered. “ We have some stalls, or a paddock if you like.”
(I think the paddock will be wonderful. We can talk there best.) I turned and started walking, past the still flabbergasted Jaydon, to a paddock that was filled with rich green grass and several trees for shade. I opened the gate and watched as the mare trotted in and took a survey of her surroundings.
(This will be wonderful. Thank you, Cheyenne.)
“ Oh. You’re welcome…” I trailed off, not knowing her name.
(Crystal.)
“ Ok then. You’re welcome Crystal.”
Crystal snorted happily and started to much on grass. I stared at her like I had never seen a horse before. Well, technically I’d never seen a horse that talked before.
(I’m very tired. I know you want answers but lets talk tomorrow.)
Crystal gazed at me warmly and then turned back to grazing.
“ Oh right. Um, ok. See you later.” I whispered, feeling stupid talking out loud to a horse no one else could hear beside me and apparently Trey. I turned and almost ran back into the barn, looking for Jaydon. As I ran around a corner, I ran into something as solid as a wall, but much warmer. Arms encircled my waist to keep me from falling backwards as I bounced off the muscular chest. Then I was incased tighter, firmly and securely against the muscular chest. All the breath that was left in my lungs whooshed out as I looked up and met Trey’s eyes.
