Here is the first chapter of my story. I posted the first half like two months ago but here it is again. By the way this book has two perspectives. I edited the first chapter.
The first day-Athena's perspective
Boy now that I look back at that week it was when my perspective on all things changed. I knew that week was different. The first day felt off. Just by how I woke up.
"Athena! Get up and get ready for school!" my mom shouted at me
My eyes popped open and I got up immediately and got dressed. This was new for me since I always got up later and refused to get out of bed but I felt like I needed to get up.
I walked downstairs to the kitchen and sat down. My mom's eyebrow moved up "Athena? You are here earlier than I thought you would be. Is everything alright? You even beat your brother," she said
Before I said anything my brother Tom came charging down the stairs. He glared at me "Ugh the one day I don't race you and you win!" he said
I smirked. My brother always thought we had a race going on but we never did. "Make jokes. I'm just as surprised as you are," I said
We all fell silent as we all hear our dad coming down the stairs singing "Last Christmas" He kissed my mom on the cheek and he got cereal from the top shelf.
I laughed "Dad it's not christmas yet," I said
He looked towards me "What's your point?" he asked mouth full of cereal. Mom glared at him and he swallowed "It's a good song. Hey what time is it? You are usually done later. Are you sick?" he asked
I shook my head "No. I just got up. It felt like I needed to. Do you ever get those feelings?" I asked
My brother rolled his eyes "Oh yeah everybody gets those feelings," he said
I punched him in the arm and when he was about to strike me mom coughed "Athena weren't you going to catch the bus early to study for your science test?" she asked
I looked at my watch "Oh shit you're right!" I gasped I jumped out of my chair and flung myself out the door and towards the bus stop.
Mom came out the house "Athena! What did I tell you?" she screamed
I wove my hand "Sorry mom!" I shouted running closer to the bus stop.
As I got to the bus stop the bus came inching forward. The door creaked open and I saw the bus stop. He was a skinny pale white hippie looking guy. He had no hair though "Get on!" he coughed
As I panted I climbed onto the bus and was instantly overwhelmed by the smell of many foul things. I looked forward to locate a seat and I saw one next to a boy in the back row.
This boy had dark blond hair with green eyes. He was scrawny and pale white.
I trudged to the back of the bus and sat next to him. When he looked at me he immediately scooted closer to the window.
The bus inched forward and made it's way through the streets of New York CIty. We passed many buildings and we traveled over a pot hole which made the bus lurch up a bit.
I gasped and put my hand on the nearest thing to console me. When it was over I realized I was holding the boys knee. I looked at him and he went very red "Oh sorry!" I said taking my hand off of his knee
He looked very shaken but his voice came to him "It's fine," he said his voicing cracking.
I giggled under my breath to hide that I was laughing at his voice. It was cute.
The bus reached it's destanation and made a dead stop. The bus sounded it died. I looked at him again and he seemed flustered. He got up quickly and exited the bus tripping over his feet. The people on the bus laughed while he looked red as ever. I just sat there gathering on what just happened.
