f I had to identify the most important step in writing an essay, I would probably say it was the organization. Coming up with a thesis is a big part of essay writing, but it doesn’t mean anything if you do not have the proper support for it. That is where organization comes into play. If you can put your thoughts in the right order, you can get people to feel a certain way as they read your work. It’s like taking them on a journey through your mind.

Here are some tips to help you effectively organize your essays in the future.

The Pyramid Method
This is my favorite way to write essays, and I feel it is the most effective. You start by barely introducing what you are going to talk about, and then you build a pyramid of support from there. In the conclusion, you make your big, powerful assertion that makes people go “Wait, what just happened? I just got bitch slapped by brilliance!” This method is great for persuasive essays, but I use it for everything. It just makes sense.

The Inverted Pyramid Method
This is the exact opposite of the method above, where you start with a big idea and then support it afterward. I don’t like this because it lacks progression. It doesn’t keep people hooked. It may work well for a web article or a news story, but not a college essay. Nevertheless, some professors love this method, so you just have to test it out and see what they think.

The Sandwich Method
In this method, you start with something big, provide support, and end with something equally big. Basically you have a thesis at the beginning that poses a question or a problem, and then you have a conclusion that answers it. I have used this method a few times, and it has worked well. I would recommend using it at least once or two.

General Tips for Essay Organization
In the case of a compare and contrast essay, don’t do one paragraph for one story and then another paragraph for the other story. Try to mix the two together and compare them point by point. Each point would be an article all its own.

Try to talk about events in chronological order so your readers can follow them. If you jump all through a book or resource, you may lose track of your focus and fluidity.

Don’t be afraid to use small paragraphs if you have different topics in each of them. It is better to do that than to have a long paragraph that no one wants to read through.

If you follow my tips above for your next essay in college, you should be able to wow the professor and get your point across at the same time. Good luck!

I slammed the car door shut, and faced the school.

"Have a good day sweetie," Mom said, somewhat hopefully from the drivers seat. Just the words made me want to ball up and cry. She drove away, leaving me in the dust. I would not survive this day.

Not that I deserve to.

I clutched my books to my chest, and tried to keep my eyes fixed on the ground. But I still felt their eyes on me.

"Bitch," they muttered.

"She deserves to die," others said. Didn't they know I want to? Didn't they know how much strength it took to keep breathing? And when I did, it was the everlasting pain that nearly brought me to my death. But I could only hope.

But they didn't know this. They just knew it was my fault. And it was. It was all my fault for what had happened.

And I'd live with this guilt till I die.

Please let me know if I should continue this; I don't know if I should.
Can I Hate You?

Can I Hate You? I dont know.
You did so much, to make me smile,
I wish I hadnt fallen so hard, so fast, with my eyes closed.
You loved me,I think, I know I loved you.
I cant just throw it away over night.
I want you back, here with me.
I miss being yours, I miss it.
I know I'm strong, I know I'll live.
I know I wont die.
Can I hate you? I dont know.
I've decided I cant, no matter your choices,
It hurts yes, to see you go
But I can pull up my pullups,
And do it with dignaty,
Yes theyve asked, but i said no
I dont want them, I want you.
But I guess that cant happen.
So can I hate you? No.

I was able to find a seat with a little sixth grader. She pushed herself to the window, making sure she was as far from me as she could get. What, was I diseased? I ignored her and just stared at the seat in front of me, avoiding eye contact with anyone.

After about a twenty minute bus ride, we got to the school. Afraid to be noticed, I waited until most of the people got off the bus. This really annoyed the sixth grader; I had her trapped, so she had to wait until I got the guts to cut someone off. Finally, I started to get off the bus, when I felt hands on my back. As I was getting off, they...

The night was hollow, the moon casting gray shadows through the dark forest as he ran.
Darting between trees, jumping over fallen logs, he glided through the forest like a cloaked shadow himself. He was aware of the others in the forest, the dark beasts that chased him. He stopped as several beasts jumped in front of him. Their red eyes held fast to him as their skin rippled and bubbled. He gritted his teeth, once these had been normal dogs, dogs he had played with long ago. Now they were beasts of the blackest element, chained to a dark and dismal fate, and loyal to their creator.
He brought...

I need to find a name for my character. She is a twelve year old girl with short, kinda boyish blonde hair. She has a curious and Mischievous personality and a tomboyish attitude. She loves Music, she plays Piano and Guitar and can play the Saxaphone really well. She is also very good in school. She has green eyes and likes to draw and write. Her main flaw is when she makes mistakes she has trouble realising that she is only human, and humans make mistakes. I am trying to find a good name but I am having a lot of trouble. Please help!

I stayed in my room the whole next day. Blair must've come in my room last night after our little confrontation, and removed any sharp objects. My fine-tooth comb is gone. My left arm stung a lot; I was starting to regret doing that a little bit.

I did feel better though.

No one bothered me today. I'd heard someone near my door in the mid-morning, but I heard Blair whisper, "No dear. Let her rest."

I slept most of the day, but I started to get a little anxious in the late afternoon. I paced around for a while, cleaned up a bit, and tried to sleep but couldn't. Then a while later, I gave up and...

Sun shining like a holy light. After getting out of the tent, I was welcomed by such greenery and wildlife. Such green lush beauty in the glowing morning light made everything just pop and colorful. So many different shades of green and nature all around. I definitely didn't get this New York! The lush vegetation, the scenery, the little cute monkeys climbing around, it was like being in a zoo almost. I heard rustling in the bushes, and prepared myself for an animal attack. As soon as I saw my sister's pink tennis shoe pop out of the bushes, I was slightly relieved. The girls walked out of...

It was a dark day. The wind was rushing through the trees and the rain came down without any mercy. I was alone in the house, searching for something I could do on this stormy day.
I decided to go outside, so I could feel nature’s power rushing through my veins.

Once I opened the door, I felt like I was about to enter a whole different world.
The wind was blowing in my ears and my clothes were soaked the moment I stepped outside.
But I kept going. I did not want to go back. I wanted to keep moving forward.
I wanted to become one with the rain, become one with the wind. I wanted to be the rain...

I woke up shivering with a red blanket that had holes in it. I see Jason in a clear cage with breathing holes in the top and bottom of it, right in front was two men that I woke up to in my dream. I didn't care, I cared about why was Jason in the cage!"Get out of here, you shouldn't be here".Jason said weakly."No I'm not leaving you, I want to know that your ok"! I said putting my hand on one of the holes on the cage."I'm find babe just leave before you get hurt"! He said desperately. He put his hand where my and was, and I could feel the warmth of the love he had for me. I saw that he had...

This place is totally different from how Bea told me how is was. Freedom? I feel like a lab rat and everything is limited. They watch you do everything, and all the pills that they give you, you have to take them and they watch you take them.Yet, Janice doesn't take them. I've seen her little tricks, and I must say for myself that it's pretty brilliant how she does it. They watch her take them, but then after they leave, she takes them out of her mouth, puts them in her pockets, and then around nighttime or so, she'll trade with another girl for pills that Janice wants. This goes against...

A week later, Blair had gotten us all settled in. I had the one spare bedroom, Kirsten and Sage slept on air mattresses in the other spare bedroom, Paige had a bedroom in the basement, and Mom slept on the pullout couch. Blair and her husband were so nice for taking us in, I'd never be able to thank them enough.

Mom still hadn't found a job. This pleased me, despite our previous conversation. I liked it when she was around. She was fun to talk to, and she understood me sometimes. Even if she didn't, she listened to me.

She seemed nicer too, and more caring.

Back at home, when she was actually...

I'm kinda new to writing(well sorta. I'm writing a book in the Teen Titans club) So I decided to see if I could write a good story. So here's a prologue and please tell me what you think of this so I can see if I should start writing the story or not.

Four Hundred years ago, a girl named Akari Kokawa lived in a small village in Japan. She lived alone with her Father, . She never knew her mother for she was killed by her husband's brother. Akari's father was a cruel man. He beat his child and would often sell her body to men for money. She had enough of his torture and stabbed him to death...

Introduction

Everybody has a friend. Someone to talk to, to share your secrets with. Someone in this cold cruel world that you could trust. A friend doesn't exactly have to be a person. It could be a pet, a journal-sometimes a banana-or even a rock. A friend doesn't have to be real, either. A character from a story or movie, perhaps? But that's still something everyone can look at, hear, or feel. Well, some of those make-believe friends, not actors, are things only you can look at, hear, and feel. Now those are called imaginary friends, as you probably know. Imaginary friends can be anything you want them to be. An animal, a creature you made up, a monster, or just another human being. There are rare cases when special people have imaginary friends that...are not exactly in the afterlife. But, no matter what, whatever kind of friend it is, that one true friend will always be there for you.
Always.
Always.
Always...

Inspired by the song, "Looking Glass" by The Birthday Massacre.

"Waiting as I'm wanting to. Speaking as I'm spoken to. Changing to your point of view. I fade as I follow you. A boyish notion of false emotion. These words are spoken despite my love. A fool's devotion was set in motion. My eyes are open now."

I'd thought there was nothing wrong.

"He's really sweet, I promise," I'd said. They just didn't know him like I did. It made me angry. He really wasn't bad; just some anger management problems. That was no reason to be afraid.

Now I wasn't so sure.

"Look at me when I talk to you," he snapped....

I wanted until morning. I was actually able to still live in my room. It wasn't an aparition or anything weird. Like I never got bitten. Like I ran from him and was safe with my family. When morning came, I grabbed all my dresses and ran to the nearest mall and looked at the directory. Upstairs. I went up the escalator. I slowly walked inside the shop. It felt eerie and dark. That frightful night played back in my head.

"Help! Someone!" "Mamma! Mamma! Mam-"

"M'aam? How may I help you?" I snapped back to reality. "Oh, I have these old dresses and I thought a thrift store could take them." I set...

It was the next day. I got dressed nervously, had Bruno thought I was a helper? I put on a blue shirt that said "Do I Look Like I Care?" and skinny jeans. I ran outside to look for the bus, it wasn't there. I waited and waited, but it never came! I ran to school. I finally got to school no one was in the halls. I realized everyone was in class. I wrote a fake note in cursive the best I could. When I walked into class I gave the teacher the note. She read happily. Not looking angry at all, she said "Oh! I didn't give you a note. It was saying the bus driver was sick and there were no subs availble. Sorry!" I replied with " It's fine"

"Honey, do you feel guilty for what your parents did?" Dr. Bellamont asked. We were in the middle of a session that I was being forced to participate in. I shrugged. "I think you do," she said quietly. I clenched my hands into fists. It made me mad that she assumed that. It also made me mad that she was also kind of right.

Dr. Bellamont went on for a while, saying about how it wasn't my fault for what my parents did. After a couple minutes I got sick of listening to her and blocked everything out. She sighed.

"Hecate? Are you even listening?" she asked. I nodded, and she raised an eyebrow. I...
