Later, Blair got us a lot to eat. I was so thankful; I don't think I'd ever eaten that much food in one sitting. She let us take showers as well. I was eager to get rid of the dirt and crap. James went to work, but Blair stays home. Jori went off to school. I was kind of fascinated with that. I wanted to ask her what it was like; I'd stopped going to school in third grade. I had no idea what middle school, let alone high school was like. And Sage had never been to school a day in her life. Good thing Paige was such a good teacher.

"Do you girls need anything?" Blair asked. I was pretty much taken care of. I was full, clean, and content.

"No thanks," Mom said. "Thank you so much for what you're doing."

"No problem! I'm so glad to see you and your girls! Stay as long as you need to!" I bit my lip. As much as I liked being here, I was kind of worried Mom would take her up on that offer. I didn't want to be rude. Blair went to the store, to go grocery shopping. This left us all alone at the house with each other.

"Well, this is nice, isn't it?" Mom asked. We nodded.

"How long are we staying here?" I asked.

"I don't know. As soon as I can find a job, and pay for a house of our own."

"Same here," Paige said. As much as she hated working, she hated not working as well. She was so responsible, and always wanting to help out. I pitied her for it sometimes.

"I want to get a job too," I said.

"You're only fifteen, Shelby," Mom said. "You don't need to be working. Same with you, Paige. You've always been working. I want to start supporting this family. You girls don't need to get jobs."

"I'm almost sixteen," I reminded her.

"And I want to work, Mom. That way we can get a house faster."

"No. I want to do this myself." Paige and I pursed our lips. We'd learned from experience, Mom cannot keep a job. It'd be easier just to have Paige working. "You girls stay here, ok?" We nodded, and she left.

"What're we gonna do?" Kirsten asked. Paige shrugged. I could tell from her expression that she already felt helpless. Paige without a job was like a fish without water. The outcome was just not happy.

"Well, I'm going to sleep," I decided. I was happy that I could be home, or somewhere like it, and not have to watch the younger ones like my life depended on it. And since I was so used to that, it took a while for me to feel comfortable enough to fall asleep.

I was woken a couple hours later, by Blair coming home. The grocery bags made quite a lot of noise, being set on the counters and kitchen table.

"Hi Shelby," she smiled. I sat up, and rubbed my eyes. I looked around, but saw nowhere else. Immediately, I started to panic. "Don't worry," she said. "Paige took the kids to the park. And I guess your Mom's still out looking for a job. She told me early this morning she wanted to."

"Oh," I said. Blair looked at the clock.

"Jori should be home soon... What time do you usually get home from school?"

"I don't," I said. She furrowed her eyebrows. "I don't go to school."

"Oh... Does your mom home school you?"

"Paige did," I said. She stared at me for a while.

"Oh my gosh. Your sister home schools you?"

"She did," I corrected. "Sage and Kirsten are kind of a hand full, so we decided I was fine."

"Who teaches Paige then?"

"She just teaches us from what she remembers from fifth grade," I shrugged. She shook her head, disbelieving.

"That's... Wow... Well, hopefully when your mother gets the money, you girls will all be going to school again." I pursed my lips and shrugged. I never want to go to school. From what I remember, it was never good. A door opened and closed, and Jori came in. "Hi sweetie," Blair smiled warmly. Jori waved.

"Hey," she sighed. "Ugh, I have so much homework. Mr. Henson's insane." Another reason Paige's homeschooling was good. She had never given me homework.

"Oh, I'm sorry sweetie. Well, when you're done, why don't you hang out with Shelby? She could used some company." Jori looked at me, and raised an eyebrow.

"Um.." she said, looking for an answer. It was obvious she was trying to put "no" lightly.

"Um, that's ok," I said. "I think I'm just going to sleep some more... I'm pretty tired."

"Oh, ok," Blair said. "Why don't you go sleep in the guest room? You can sleep there." Jori showed me to the guest room, on her way up to her room. It was a big room, much bigger than my old bedroom, and had a kind sized bed, just like ours. Only theirs was cleaner and neat. I collapsed on the bed, pleased to not be squished, and fell asleep again.

Mom came into the room a couple hours later, and sat on the bed. I yawned, stretching out my legs, and wincing as the stitches stretched as well.

"Hey," she said softly. I smiled a little bit.

"Did you get a job?" I asked.

"No," she sighed. "I couldn't find a place that was hiring."

"Oh... Is everyone home yet?"

"Yeah. The girls are downstairs. James got home a while ago too. Dinner's in twenty minutes." I studied her for a moment. "What's wrong?"

"I don't know if I want you to get a job," I admitted. She cocked her head, and ran her hand through my hair.

"Why not?"

"Because. You're finally around now, and a job would only keep you away." She smiled sadly at me, even though some tears were starting to well up in my eyes. "I don't like it when you're away."

"Shelby, you know I'll always come back." I stubbornly wiped the tears away. She hugged me, and I hugged her tight, grabbing my fist with my hand. It felt, for the first time in my whole life, that I was actually happy to have a mother. She was there for me, and it was the greatest feeling ever. It felt like she actually cared. She kissed the top of my head. She whispered soft words in my ear, calming me down. I knew I'd be ok. "Come on, Honey. Dinner's almost ready." I hugged her again, and then we went downstairs to the kitchen.

"Have a nice nap?" Blair smiled at me. I nodded sheepishly. We sat at the dining table, the only place big enough for all of us to eat at. Blair placed the food on the table, and everyone passed it around.

"You don't go to school?" Jori asked me. We all nodded. "Lucky," she scoffed. Blair, James, and Mom talked amongst themselves, and Jori asked us random questions sometimes.

We were all one happy family it seemed.
It was a golden summer evening. The last rays of the setting sun reflected off the surface of the water whilst reeds swayed lazily at the banks of the pond. I closed my eyes, feeling content for a moment.
The old jetty creaked as a small boy walked along it, stopping next to me. He sat down with a thud, and turned, grinning, to face me.
“Not long now,” Jacob said happily, “another tester.”
I smiled in return. The excitement of summer had worn off quickly for us, and our small town didn’t offer much in the way of entertainment for children of our age. So, we spent our days playing mindlessly...

"Good morning," I hear the principal say as she does every day. Normally, I would politely respond to that with a "Thank you Mrs. Monrale, you too," but today I'm just pissed.

How can she say that?! It was awful of her to say such a thing! "It is most definitely not a good morning," I mutter to myself. But she is all the way down the hallway now.

I pace around, taking a long route to my locker where, as always, the two cheerleaders on either side of my locker are cheerfully chatting. Normally I would say "Excuse me," but today I'm not normal. I can't bring myself to say why I'm so abnormal...

Chapter 2

Koda arrived at his uncle’s shop, parking his dirt bike behind the building and chaining it to the radiator. The sun was already high in the sky; beating down its unforgiving rays of heat down on him but the extreme heat never bothered him as it seemed his body was never affected by the sun.
His skin would repel the rays like a duck’s feathers would repel the water.
Inside he could hear his uncle yelling something...

A sharp siring pain struck my stomach; I froze tight as stone grasping at my stomach. The pain was unbelievably unbearable. I wasn’t able to breathe it just made the pain ten times worse. My eyes were pinched tight, tighter then when I jumped off the bleachers in the high school gym a few years back.
The thought about that whole night made me cringe making the pain worst. That night was one of the worst nights of my life; something I hope will never have to be brought up ever again.
Patch and I were sitting on the couch watching TV after our one o’clock lunch. My legs had been flung on top...

X : Chapter 10

Casey

I’m so excited for my date with Carl. My hair is curled (Matthew said it looked pretty that way at the wedding.), I’m wearing a silver tank top that sparkles with all the sequins, and a pair of dark colored skinny jeans. Normally I don’t go for the whole sparkly look, but I thought it would be fun for rock and bowl.

Everything is going great, when all of sudden the lights go off and rock and bowl begins. Carl gets up and asks me to come with him to get something to eat. The next thing I know he’s shoved me into a small storage closet and there’s a knife pointed...

Annabeth Chase and the Olympians

We Find Two Idiots

Ok, let’s get to the point. My name is Annabeth Chase and I’m a half-blood…Or…..A demigod. I know, I know you think there’s no such thing. Most mortals do. Anyway, I’m a daughter of Athena-goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts.
I was sitting in the Big House talking with Chiron, Camp Half-Blood‘s activities director. “ I really think we should have a temple, Chiron. And I should design it. I mean the kids here are the children of the gods! And we don’t even have a monument for them!”
He gave me a tired...

Prologue

I have always hated how we never seem to change. Our town has been the same size since, well, since forever. Never changing, just remaining quaint and familiar. Some people don’t like to come here because they say we make our selves sound too innocent. To me, innocence is that last thing that is Sleepy Hollow. If we were innocence, then my story would have no meaning. And without meaning, there would be no story. I will admit that you may find it to be sad or empty, so I don’t blame you if you want to set it down, and never look at it again. Believe me, if only I could set it off...

Endless Pain: Chapter One

Selena slowly walked down her street. The fall air was crisp on her cheeks and red leaves scattered themselves across the yards and streets of her neighborhood. But she didn’t notice. She was too deep into thought; wondering if he’ll ever come back. Her pace slowed as she thought harder. She soon came to a thought and stopped.

“He’s not coming back!” She yelled. Selena ripped down the street; tears coming down her cheek as fast...

Chapter 1

I woke up that morning, not even wanting to get out of bed. I was so tired and I had a major hangover from last night's party. I looked down. I was really relieved that I still had my clothes on. I didn't want a repeat of last time. Brianna still isn't over me. She's freaking stalking me right now.

After my head stop spinning which was about twenty minutes later, I got out of bed. God I was a mess. Stupid Ken with a party on a school night. I looked at the clock beside the table and it read "8:30". I really didn't care if I was late. My record could take one more late.

I...

Belinda’s p.o.v

All 6 of us stood in the lounge room; we tried to not pay attention to the maid cleaning around, dusting and wiping anything that looked dirty. It was awkward sitting there doing our normal routine in fact it was too weird. Tayce was just sitting there eating an apple while doing her toe nails, which were on top of Bobby’s legs. Kale and Ruby just sat there giving each other the death glare...weird. Justin was hard in paper work and I was just sitting there standing...

I'm losing my mind, Taylor thought as she gripped the edge of the vanity table, almost splintering it. A few shards of glass on top of it were enough to tell her that her face was painted with her black tears.

I need to find out, she thought desperately. Even if it hurts. Even if the truth hurts worse than an outright lie.

Lie. So seemingly small and insignificant, and yet it could go unnoticed, almost like it could be said and then forgotten immediately.

Lies are like a temporary fix. They solve most problems, but they will soon unravel and tear even worse than before.

Glass. Why can't I break...

He didn't seem... mad. Like he should have been. Like he had every right to be.

He stopped maybe a meter away from me. I glanced up, and saw the same look of indecision I had seen on his face the first day.

I had no idea what I was supposed to do. My life is not a perfect little story where happy endings are mandatory.

I didn't expect myself to sink to the floor against the wall and begin crying. There just weren't words to say what I wanted to.

I didn't expect him to sit in front of me and put his hands on my shoulders. He forced me to to look up at him, and he said, "Tell me."

The next day, I was hurrying to school, which I had never done before. Ever.

I impatiently sped through History, English and Trig. By the time lunch came around, I was trying my utmost not to sprint to the cafeteria.

I felt so deflated when he wasn't there. The small brunnette girl, Tia, who had every single class, save for Biology, with me, was walking next to me. She talked a lot, she was easy to be around. She never paused, so as long as you nodded and smiled, no-one could tell you weren't listening.

I sat down with Tia and her friends. I didn't say a word the entire time.

Never Again

Your breath lingers on my skin
Taking over all that’s true
Wanting you to win
I’m wondering is this a sin?
I’m beginning to fall
Now I’m losing it all

Your face I picture everywhere
Imagining you lying here next to me
Not showing how much I care
Never daring to go back to there
Every kiss was a lie
Don’t want to admit that and say goodbye, say goodbye

Chorus:
You loved me
You belonged to me
Most nights alone
Waking to the familiar emptiness
Eating me inside
Just want to let it go and jump
Yearning to fly
Never to cry
Never again, never again

Your touch, your skin
Radiates around me
You saying...
