Please, help me?

I'm writing a story, where a girl is murdered. Ten years later, her brother meets this girl and talking about his sister's death with her makes him suspicious. He realises, as she speculates about the investigation, that hardly anything about it adds up.

I need help to figure out what it could be about the case that doesn't add up.

im really probly no help but maybe that girl could be the killer n the bother goes seaching to find the answers or he does that and finds that the girl is a police officer trying to crack the case n it dosent make sesne but then they work together trying to crack it and find out maybe that she was raped or had a boyfriend who was dealing drugs or something or she had a secert life sorry if i am no help but hope it does help =)
