"Are you gonna be okay when I start to...Lose control?" She asked as she played with her napkin.
"That's years from now... who knows what medical breakthroughs will happen." Wilson said with a hopeful smile. She looked up at him and sighed.
"I love your optimism but unfortunately I don't share it."
He grimaced and stood up. He walked over to her and sat down.
"What is this about, Remy?"
"James, I'm dying and probably will be dead within the next six years...You've already lost Amber and been through so much with House,Danny, and as an oncologist watching so many patients perish; do you really want to go through this with me? Don't you just want to be happy for once?" She asked with unshed tears glistening in her eyes. Wilson brought her head to his chest and ran his hands through her hair. She began to finally whimper against him.
"I am happy...I love you." He said as he continued to soothe her. She held on to him tighter.
"It will be hard watching you get sicker and sicker, but I love you and couldn't imagine going through that with anyone else."
Remy drew back from his embrace and looked up at him.
"It destroyed my father...He was a shell of his former self once she started to get really bad. He never moved on from her either."
"And you don't want the same for me." He stated. She nodded in agreement.
"Do you love me, Remy?"
"Of course. More than anyone."
"Then let me love you...Let me decide to stay...Let me be with you, because no matter how difficult it becomes, or painful to watch, I want you and no one else." He said as he traced a hand against her wet cheek. She smiled softly.
"It's a mistake." She said half-heartedly as she lay her head against his chest once more.
"Love is never a mistake." He said as he held her close.
