'Westworld,' 'Stranger Things' make big Golden Globes splash

 scored big on Monday, scooping up three Golden Globe nominations for the show’s debut season on HBO, earning nods for best actress (Evan Rachel Wood), supporting actress (Thandie Newton) and a coveted best drama series slot. 

Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy say they managed to sleep through the early morning announcement but were “ecstatic” once they brought themselves back online. “Those ladies in particular, and our entire cast, have worked so hard and were so generous and fearless and transcendent with their performances, it’s a thrill to see them recognized,” Nolan told EW.

star Anthony Hopkins didn’t crack the competitive best male actor category. Nolan expressed hope the Oscar winner might get some love during Emmy season next year. “It would be great to see Tony get some recognition for his work,” he said. “We thought his performance was incredible. We’ll be hoping for that in the next round.”
