! History just announced that they are renewing their hit series for a fifth season of swords, shieldmaidens, and elaborate facial hair. In a press release, the network announced that the fifth season will debut in 2017, and will have 20 episodes. The fourth season premiered last month and will also include 20 episodes, twice as many as season 3.

The news also came with an exciting casting announcement. Jonathan Rhys Meyers will join the series, presumably as someone with a beard or a king from a country being invaded by someone with a beard. Meyers previously worked with
