I mean, he lost his love , Elizabeta when she threw herself from the parapets into the river of tears. He blames God and so defies death and embraces immortality and then wanders in a state of of vengeance for 3 centuries until he finds Mina Harker who is a carbon copy of his lost love and so travels to London to bring her back to carpathia, risking his life in doing so. If he is such a monster, then how could he love so much for 3 whole centuries. A victim of circumstance or the ultimate romantic ? Don't all girly-wirlies want to be adored that much...or maybe not.

Of course people have sympathy for Dracula. Those who stop and think about it as we have. It's the ultimate tragic love story. A lot of people don't see it that way, and only see him as a heartless killer. Which, he is that also.
