Gertrude Irene Smith, a veteran Ultraman/Godzilla fan, passed away from Emphysema on 5/25/2012 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was 65. Gertrude was born in March of 1947 and was named after her mother. She was a prison Guard who lived alone with her cat in Blytheville, Arkansas and loved to chat/debate about local politics. Additionally, she was one of 4 authors of the massive article, "Ultraman in the Movies and on TV", which appeared in G-Fan's anniversary issue #50. Gertrude also attended G-Con/G-Fest conventions. She was briefly filmed making a comment at G-Con '97 in NY by Sci-Fi Buzz. The segment is included in the compilation film, "Hero and Kaiju in America" Vol. 1. She also created/maintained the Ultraman section of the Kaiju-Direct site. Additionally, she co-created and ran the late, great Ultraman news site: "Area M78". Gertrude has no known existing relatives. She was predeceased by her parents and brother. So, there was nobody to report her death, or to claim her ashes at Emerson Funeral Home. I wish to see my friend laid to rest beside her family, but it is unknown where they are. This is sad. Can anyone help Gertrude?

Author's Note: [I had to do a great deal of detective work to gather this info about Gertrude. Furthermore, I was unaware that she was gone until my greeting card to her was returned marked: "Deceased".] If anyone wishes to post this obituary elsewhere respectfully in Gertrude's memory, they may do so.
