Not only does he love Bella and want to spend eternity with her (though he would be happy to leave her human if that's what she wanted) but he promised. As long as she goes through with the wedding, he would have no reason not to keep his promise.

If he goes back on his word, I will rip him to itty bitty pieces and light his tattered remains on fire :)
