As long as he/she thought the imprintee was happy with whoever he or she had chosen, I think the wolf would try to pretend to be happy for the imprintee's sake, and hide his/her pain from that person at least. He/she wouldn't be able to try to break the couple apart without some indication that's what the imprintee wanted, because the imprint forces him/her to be whatever the imprintee wants.
