Honestly... his reason for leaving and what was going to happen at the end of New Moon or the beginning of Eclipse (Edward coming back with a heroic reason and Bella taking him back without a second thought) was *so* predictable.

I loved the part without Edward, because it gave time for Bella and Jacob to bond. Although I'm not too fond of how Edward was reintroduced with the whole Volturi thing.
