So I was listening to the song "Time is Running Out" by Muse and really paying attention to the lyrics. I noticed some striking resemblances to this song and New Moon. Listen to this song if you've seen the movie New Moon and/or have read the book. The song came out before the book, so I know Muse didn't steal it from Stephenie Meyer. And one of Stephenie Meyer's favourite bands in Muse. Just look at the lyrics for yourself and read my breakdown:

I think I'm drowning - Could be when Bella literally drowns or when she was without Edward
Asphyxiated - She felt like she was dying without Edward
I wanna break this spell
That you've created - Edward "dazzles" Bella

You're something beautiful - She has described Edward as beautiful before
A contradiction - He's a great person, but stuck with the bad reputation of vampires
I wanna play the game - Bella wants to be a vampire
I want the friction - She's okay with all the bad stuff that comes with it

You will be the death of me - Because vampires aren't living or because hanging around with vampires is literally deadly business
You will be the death of me

Bury it
I won't let you bury it - At the end when Edward's about to reveal his sparkliness to the world, Bella won't let him bury his own life
I won't let you smother it - She won't let him "smother" himself
I won't let you murder it - She won't let him murder himself

Our time is running out - Bella was running out of time when she was trying to get to him
Our time is running out
You can't push it underground - She couldn't stop Edward from showing his sparkliness and she felt hopeless
You can't stop it screaming out

I wanted freedom - She just wanted to be a vampire
Bound and restricted - He keeps her a little too close
I tried to give you up - When Edward left her
But I'm addicted - Bella was freaking out for months when he left her. Definitely addiction.

Now that you know I'm trapped sense of elation - When Edward knew Bella couldn't live without him she was happy because he would never leave her again
You'd never dream of
Breaking this fixation - Now he would never even think to leave her

You will squeeze the life out of me - When Edward finally makes her a vampire she wil technically be lifeless

Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it

Our time is running out
Our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
Oh

You will suck the life out of me - Again, she wants to be a vampire and vampires aren't technically alive. He will "suck" the life out of her when he turns her into a vampire.

Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it

Our time is running out
Our time is running out
You can't push it underground
You can't stop it screaming out
How did it come to this?
Oh

You cannot read these lyrics and my evaluation and NOT think Stephenie Meyer stole the plot of New Moon from Muse. I mean, it's just waaaay too similar to just be a coincidence. And like I said before, Stephenie Meyer is a fan of Muse, so she's heard this song. Even if she didn't do it intentionally, she did it subconsciously. Or maybe I just drank a little too much today. I don't know, you decide.
