I woke up very tired. I turned my phone on and realized that I has missed seven of Alice's calls. I felt bad, but I couldn't call her now, I had to get ready for school. Charlie was already gone, luckily. Once I was ready for school, I didn't feel like sitting around and waiting to leave, so I just left a few minutes early.
When I got there I realized that the parking lot was practically empty. But, Alice and the Cullens were all already there.
"Alice!" I yelled even though I knew she heard me pull up. She walked over to me, smiling.
"It's okay, you don't have to apologize to me," Alice said with a smirk on her face.
"How do you-"
"I know you, Bella. And, I know that you probably feel horrible about screening my calls," Alice said.
"But you called seven times," I said.
"I wanted you to know that I care," Alice said.
"I already knew-" I said when I heard a motorcycle from behind us.
I turned around and saw Jacob, sitting on his motorcycle. The motorcycle that I gave him for his birthday last year. He was going to beg for my forgiveness! I was about to say something to him, but then I realized that he wasn't the only one on the motorcycle. There was a girl on the motorcycle with him.
She had long, straight black hair and pale skin. She was the type of girl that did not have to work hard to look good. However, the Cullens obviously all looked better than she did.
I watched her get off the motorcycle, then before walking to the school, kissing Jacob on the cheek.
I never saw her in my life, but now, I envied her so much.
Before Jacob left, he turned around and he saw me standing there, furious. His eyes locked with mine for a second. Then, he looked in the opposite direction, and drove away.
Alice then pulled on my arm and practically dragged me to the bathroom. Alice thought I was going to cry. But in reality, I was so surprised that the reality hadn't hit me yet.
"Bella, Bella, are you okay?" Alice said frantically when we got to the bathroom. "If you want, we can go home, I'll stay with you all day," Alice added on.
"No, I just, need some time to think," I said.
"Thats the girl Bella," Alice said.
"What girl?" I asked.
"The girl that Jacob imprinted on. Didn't he tell you that?" Alice said.
"What the heck does 'imprinted' mean?" I said, air-quoting the word 'imprinted'.
"He didn't tell you did he?" Alice said, realization all over her face.
"I guess not," I said. "Well what does imprinted mean?"
"Well, werewolves imprint on a girl. And, well this is what I've heard, it's like love at first sight. But more powerful. That girl is apparently Jacob's 'other half'," Alice said.
"Well why didn't he imprint on me?" I said, reality suddenly hitting me.
"It's not controllable," Alice said.
"Oh, " I said.
"Do you want to go home, Bella?" Alice said.
"Yeah," I said.
"School didn't start yet, so let's go," Alice said.
Although I would never ditch school, I had too. I would never be able to make it through the day. And what would happen if I saw that girl that was with him? I wouldn't be able to handle it. Maybe I should have just gone to the prom with Edward last year anyway. Wait... Did I really just think that?
Now I was really confused. Did I like Edward more than a friend. Do I like Edward more than a friend?
No.
At least I don't think that I do.
Oh, Gosh. What do I do?
"You should talk to Jacob, he needs to tell you the complete truth, even if you already do know the truth," Alice said.
"What?" I said.
"Well, you asked what you should do and I told you," Alice said.
Did I really say that out loud? And how much did I say out loud? I hope I didn't say anything about Edward out loud. That would be a disaster.
"So, how do I talk to him?" I said.
"The best way is to catch him by surprise," Alice said, a smug look on her face.
"I don't like that look, Alice," I said, a little timid.
"Come on, we are going to Jacob's house!" Alice said, tugging me to her car.
Oh, no. What did I just get myself into?
