Chapter 5
Alice caught whiff of the stench, the stench of a werewolf. Bella immediately noticed the change in Alice’s face and knew something was wrong “What is it?” “He’s here” Alice answered rushing to the door. “Who is ‘he’?” Bella did not have to wait long to find out because when Alice wrenched open the door before he had the chance to ring the doorbell, she caught sight of him in all his glory.
His face was etched with worry making him look even hotter, his checked shirt had its buttons at the top undone showing a hint of the glory of muscles underneath his shirt and his jeans moulded his muscular legs perfectly and boy was Bella shamelessly checking him out. “What are you doing here Jacob?” Alice asked venomously “Relax, I told Carlisle I would be back later to check on her after what that-” Alice cut him off “Well she’s fine as you can see, now leave”. “You didn’t tell her what happened have you?” Jacob was furious; she needed to know what that monster did to her. Alice stepped forward in an attempt to force him out of the door “Shut up and get out Jacob.” Jacob chuckled “Or what?” “Or I’ll-” Alice was cut by Bella half yelling “What haven’t you told me Alice?” Alice looked down not wanting to answer. “That thing you call your husband threw you right across the room, he’s dangerous! Leave him Bella please?” Jacob was only too eager to answer for Alice. “Oh stop exaggerating Jacob. You are such a drama King” Alice said softly knowing very well that he wasn’t exaggerating. Bella’s heart had sped up Edward threw her across the room? Surely he would never hurt her. There had to be a reason why. Something told her she wouldn’t want to know. “Jacob, leave. Now!” Bella heard herself say. “What? I should leave? Bella don’t do this” Jacob begged why did Bella always push him away. He was close to tears right now so he walked out of the door without another word of protest.
“Now, you’re going to tell me everything that happened Alice! Everything.” Alice hated to do this but silently nodded and so she did. “This is all my fault Alice” Bella’s heart was heavy with guilt. She had turned her sweet Edward into a monster and the fact he could her scared the living shit out of her. “Oh Alice, What are we going to?” “I don’t know. I really don’t” Alice tearfully said as she put her arms around a sniffling Bella.
Super speed was really coming in handy for the Cullens who were on the hunt for Edward. Within a matter of minutes they had covered almost all the alleys in the city. Esme was first no noticed his silhouette as they neared the last alley. Edward was looming over the body of a sleeping, at least she hoped he was sleeping, homeless man.
Edward had been standing over the homeless for over half an hour now waging an internal war within himself. It was as if there were two being within himself; one being was the one who would never harm a human being and lived for nothing but Bella while the other was evil ruled by nothing but his need for human blood. He didn’t want to admit it but his evil being was winning. “Edward, think about what you’re about to do. Think about Bella, she wouldn’t want you to do this.” Edward slowly turned around to face Carlisle. Usually Edward would have listened to Carlisle but right now he was not the man who had saved his life and had guided him for centuries. No. He was an obstacle standing between him and his prey. Emmett, Jasper and Esme were well aware that Edward would be dangerous right now. Edward’s mind reading abilities would mean that he would be able to know all their moves if they were to fight. But they were positive that Edward would not attack them. Or would he?
