This is told from Mitchell’s point of view. I realised as I was writing that none of you would know exactly who Mitchell is just from Kayla’s point of view. So I’ve decided to write in Mitchell’s point of view. I may write in Mitchell’s perspective again.

It didn’t take a lot of effort to mesmerize Michaela Swan. Not that she isn’t clever, she is. Anyone can see it by looking in her eyes. It was just I was so accomplished at it that it came so easily. I could mesmerize anyone by just one smile, one look into their eyes, one touch. It had taken me decades to learn it but it wasn’t time wasted. I could get anything I wanted now.
But some human boy was foiling my attempts to get close to Michaela. He persisted on intruding whenever we were alone. I could see why he wanted to keep Michaela away from me. He was afraid I would steal her. I would do more than steal Michaela if I had my way. If only Loren would let me I would end Charlie Swan right now. But I had to do it his way. After all he was the master. Sometimes I wonder if he even remembers I am his son. That it was my sister who had perished, not just his daughter. That I had felt some loss and hurt and aguish when Ariana had been murdered. I mentally shook my head. I mustn’t think about this now. If I was to lose control I would ruin the whole plan. We had waited thirteen years for this and Loren had planned to draw it for as long as possible. Make him feel as much pain as we did and even more than that.
The human boy, Edward, was sitting next to Michaela who was sitting next to me. He had deliberately put his arm around Michaela, to show that she was his. I didn’t really care if she was his or not. I tried to make conversation with Michaela about her exams. I knew she had already taken some exams and she was taking more the coming week. I had to follow her, to know her more. If only I could read minds it would be simpler but I had to go the old-fashioned way to get to know a girl. Stalking.
“That is a really good question, Mitchell,” Edward said. When he looked at me I could see his eyes were throwing daggers at me. If looks could kill, I would be dead. “She really should be revising. Come on, Kayla, back upstairs.”
“I’m having a break from revising,” Michaela said. She was trying very hard to stay with me. Although she didn’t know it. Her mind would come up with another reason why she wasn’t going upstairs with her boyfriend. “Why don’t you go upstairs and revise, Edward? You have exams too.”
This was my chance to get rid of the human.
“Yes, Edward,” I said, getting his attention. He looked at me and I smiled, drawing his eyes to mine. What an odd eye colour he has. Almost a golden colour. “Go upstairs and revise.”
Edward’s body began to obey me. His arm twitched and almost moved away from Michaela and he was going to stand up but then he went stiff and stopped moving at all. How strange. No human could go that still. I was starting to have doubts that this Edward was actually human.
“I think you should go, Mitchell.” Edward spoke low and dangerously. Did he suspect me? If this boy wasn’t human then he would know to think of me as a threat. Was he another Azdi like Michaela? I decided to play dumb.
“I don’t understand, Edward. What have I done?”
“You came here,” he replied and I could hear the threat behind his words. “Now get out.” He was daring me to challenge him. He wanted me to fight him. If I did I would find out what he was.
“Hold up.” Michaela stopped me from answering back to Edward. She shrugged her shoulders and moved away from him, a clear gesture that she didn’t want him touching her. “I will say who leaves my house. And I say that Mitchell doesn’t leaves.”
This was good. If she didn’t want me to leave then I could stay and find out more about her and Charlie. Find out his weaknesses. If she thought that I was another Azdi she might open up a bit about her life.
“Fine.” Edward stood up, clearly angry. “I will.”
He left the living-room in a rage and I was happy to see him go. I thought Michaela would too but she shouted his name and chased after him. I heard her smack the front door in obvious anger. I was glad to see him go. Without him here I might be able to get on with the plan.
When Michaela came back into the living-room I saw a great sadness in her green eyes. It was like a part of her was missing and she wasn’t herself without it. How could that be?
“Mitchell, I think you should go.” Michaela sounded close to tears. The poor little Azdi. She was upset about her boyfriend leaving. Maybe I could fix her sadness.
“I can’t leave you when you’re upset,” I said, standing up. “That wouldn’t be very nice of me.”
I walked over where she stood by the door. I placed a hand on her arm and she jumped slightly.
She looked up at me, straight into my eyes, which was exactly what I wanted.
“I shouldn’t go,” I said, keeping my eyes locked on hers. My voice became low and almost hypnotising. “I shouldn’t leave you like this.”
She nodded her head slowly, seeming to agree with me, but then she shook her head violently.
“No,” she said, forcefully. “No, you can’t stay. I need to be on my own.”
I sighed. That idiotic boy had ruined my plan again. How would I ever accomplish this if he was always there?
“Ok,” I said. “It’s cool. I’ll see you around then?”
She nodded but didn’t look at me. She was staring into space and I could see that she was concentrating on something. What it was I didn’t know. I couldn’t read minds.
I showed myself out. She was too busy doing whatever she was doing to care to walk me to the front door. I headed for the forest opposite Michaela’s house. I would be able to shimmer in there without people seeing me. I emptied my mind of everything and concentrated solely on Loren. If my mind was thinking of other things shimmering could go drastically wrong. I took a few deep breaths to prepare myself for the uncomfortable journey. Shimmering wasn’t one of my able abilities. I hadn’t really bothered to learn to shimmer when I was younger. The mesmerizing was more important to me. But I was getting there. It wouldn’t be long before I wouldn’t have to concentrate like this and will be able to shimmer almost instantly.
When I was sure I would be able to shimmer safely I let myself go. Unfortunately there wasn’t a magic word or a snap of the fingers involved in shimmering. You just had to let your body go to whatever place it was you wanted to go. Starting at my head a wave like feeling passed throughout my entire body. I knew that at this point my body would be fading. I had seen Loren do this countless of times so I could picture what was happening to my own body. Now came the uncomfortable part. After my body faded into nothing I landed in nothing. I was surrounded by entire blackness until my mind knew where to go. Then, the surroundings of my destination appeared around me and the wave like feeling passed through my body until I was whole again. Very uncomfortable being in the nothingness. Although you’re only there for less than a second just the feeling of being surrounded by nothing scares even the toughest of men.
“Mitchell,” Loren boomed when he saw me. “I was wondering when you were coming back to me. You have been gone almost a week.”
“I was doing what you wished, Loren,” I replied. “You asked me to watch the girl and I did.”
“Good,” Loren said. “Soon we will have her under your control and then we can laugh as we watch Charlie suffer.”
“There might be a problem with that, Loren,” I said. I explained about Michaela’s boyfriend.
Loren was quiet for a few moments, his eyes not unlike mine, were darting side to side as he played out a theory in his mind.
“You will dispose of the human,” Loren said casually.
“Kill him?” I asked. “Is that necessary?”
“He is of no importance or value,” Loren answered. “So he is not worth keeping alive. Are you opposed to killing insignificant humans?”
“N-No,” I stuttered out quickly as Loren’s blue eyes blazed with fire. I was the key part in his plan. I still looked like a teenager even though I was several decades older. He was beginning to look middle-aged. I was the only one who could get close to Michaela Swan and make it look normal. He didn’t want to lose me and he thought that if I got sentimental over the killing of a human boy I would oppose the killing of Michaela. He was wrong on that part. Michaela was an Azdi. She was my natural enemy. Edward was just a simple human boy. There were millions of humans on this planet. One dead wouldn’t go amiss. That’s what I told myself anyway.
“Good,” Loren smiled warmly at me. “Let’s eat then. Ezekiel has prepared some divine food.”
“Yes Loren,” I mumbled, following him.

I LOVED this book series! The second I picked up, I was done. I just couldn't put it down! I'm sorry but Harry Potter move aside! The way the author used such detail was amazing I loved it. I wish to one day see the movies but for now Ill just keep on reading like the nerd I am. I got all my friends sucked into it and many of them very much enjoy it.
I think in the whole series, my favorite character was Nellie we didnt get much of a glimpse about her but i was fascinated by her.
