Twilight Series  best answer

this question has been asked sooo many times: the answer is on stephenies website- basically the venom replaces "bodily fluids" allowing him to get an erection and "fertilse" bellas egg. the venom contains edwards DNA which is how it fused with bella's to produce renesmee. Not sperm

this is from stephenies website:
Though there is no venom replacement that works precisely like blood, many of the functions of blood are carried on in some form. Also, the nervous system runs in a slightly different but heightened way. Some involuntary reactions, like breathing, continue (in that specific example because vampires use the scents in the air much more than we do, rather than out of a need for oxygen). Other involuntary reactions, like blinking, don't exist because there is no purpose for them. The normal reactions of arousal are still present in vampires, made possible by venom-related fluids that cause tissues to react similarly as they do to an influx of blood. Like with vampire skin—which looks similar to human skin and has the same basic function—fluids closely related to seminal fluids still exist in male vampires, which carry genetic information and are capable of bonding with a human ovum. This was not a known fact in the vampire world (outside of Joham's personal experimenting) before Nessie, because it's nearly impossible for a vampire to be that near a human and not kill her.

You also forget that you need a beating heart to actually achieve said erection. You can't just use "sexual desires" as an excuse; you need a working heart. And while SM used that venom crap as a substitute for venom, you STILL need the heart.

And I still do not see how that venom shit would combine with an egg. It EATS/DESTROYS things. And sperm is specifically designed for fertilizing an egg, while I'm guessing that venom was created for self defense (and making other vampires). It is NOT an egg fertilizer.

And that's why Stephenie Meyer fails at science. Stick to the fantasy, hun.

it is her fantasy story though, so she can make up what she wants to make it plausible

her "science" is based on the workings of vampire venom. So we cant cricitise and say it doesnt follow the science rules because it doesnt exist!!!! for all we know, if it did exist, it very well may have all these functions and be able to "excite" males and bond with ovums. but we DONT know because its fantasy!! and therefore anyhting goes

Well in Health you should learn that once men hit puberty they always carry sperm. So even if they do have a short life span once edward became immortal everything in his body couldn't die. Like i mean his heart stopped beating but, it was still in his body. SO the venom also helped act as the sperm.

best answer all his sperm is alive and mixed with his venom when he became a vampire thats what caused a half human half vampire rennesmee

you gave 2 answers: (1) he still had his human sperm after he changed. it wouldn't be possible for the small amount he had to last almost a century. I won't get detailed, but if it's capable of coming out, it would have come out long before he met Bella. (2) all-purpose venom. It's all the same venom, but apparently it's sentient since it knows when to be deadly poison that makes Bella scream in pain, and when to shut off the poison function in order to fertilize her in euphoric, marital bliss. SMeyer says her vamps are "scientific," there's no scientific explanation for that.

Because men never change. Edward was changed after he began puberty and well men basically never change from puberty to death. Women on the other hand do change. If Bella was the vampire and Edward was human Bella couldn't have been pregnant. But Bella is human and able to carry a baby.

Except for one thing: women carry our eggs since we are born, men create their little swimmers, which have a very short lifespan

I really don't get it! SMeyer must have failed life science or something, because a male needs his heart to pump blood to get an erection. And people say, "It's fiction, she can claim what she wants." Well, I don't know if I'm a bit of a science or history geek or what, but, I just find these kinds of stories and contradictories to be kinda' stupid. Same thing with Rosalie's family not being affected by the Great Depression because her father was a banker. That's just messed up!

You might as well ask how the vampires have thoughts and memories without brain activity, or how they how they absorb any nutrition from the blood they drink without a blood supply to the digestive system, or how they move without a blood supply or oxygen. Vampire mythology has been ignoring those issues since vampire mythology existed. Twilight isn't the first vampire story to give them the capacity to have sex or even to have children.
